Surgeon who performed Charlie Kirk’s neck operation unveils ‘miracle’ preventing further fatalities

The surgeon who attempted to save Charlie Kirk’s life attributes the resilience of his neck to preventing further casualties on stage that day.

On September 10, the conservative political commentator was fatally shot while speaking at the Utah Valley University campus during a Turning Point USA event.

The alleged shooter used a .30-06 bolt Winchester rifle, a weapon commonly used by big game hunters.

This rifle is capable of taking down animals significantly larger than humans, making the fact that Kirk’s neck stopped the bullet considered a ‘miracle’.

TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet shared this information on social media platform X on September 20.

“I want to address some of the discussion about the lack of an exit wound with Charlie. I’m usually not interested in delving into most of this kind of online chatter, and I apologise this is somewhat graphic, but in this case, the fact that there wasn’t an exit wound is probably another miracle, and I want people to know,” he wrote.

Kolvet further conveyed: “I just spoke with the surgeon who worked on Charlie in the hospital… He said the bullet ‘absolutely should have gone through, which is very very normal for a high powered, high velocity round. I’ve seen wounds from this caliber many times and they always just go through everything. This would have taken a moose or two down, an elk, etc.’

“But it didn’t go through. Charlie’s body stopped it,” he added.

“I mentioned to his doctor that there were dozens of staff, students, and special guests standing directly behind Charlie on the other side of the tent, and he replied: ‘It was an absolute miracle that someone else didn’t get killed. His bone was so healthy and the density was so so impressive that he’s like the man of steel. It should have just gone through and through. It likely would have killed those standing behind him too.'”

According to Kolvet, the coroner discovered the bullet lodged just beneath Kirk’s skin.

“Even in death, Charlie managed to save the lives of those around him,” he wrote.

In the days following the 31-year-old’s death, the FBI announced the arrest of their main suspect, Tyler Robinson.

Robinson was reportedly turned in by his father, a Republican voter, though Robinson’s grandmother insists the authorities have apprehended the wrong individual.

Before his arrest, Robinson allegedly made light-hearted jokes with friends about the grainy surveillance images released by authorities, which depicted a slim young man of college age wearing a cap and sunglasses.
