This week, a statue of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein appeared in Washington DC, showing the two figures holding hands.
The 12-foot structure, made from wire, wood, foam, and resin, portrays the former US president alongside the late convicted sex offender. The two are depicted with smiles, seemingly walking towards the Washington Monument.
The statue made its sudden appearance yesterday morning (September 23) in honor of Friendship Month and is expected to remain on display until Saturday (September 27).
According to The Independent, The Secret Handshake, an anonymous group responsible for the statue, stated it was created to “celebrate the friendship of these real men.”
A White House official responded to the statue’s unveiling with a statement.
“Liberals are free to waste their money however they see fit – but it’s not news that Epstein knew Donald Trump, because Donald Trump kicked Epstein out of his club for being a creep,” the statement read.
“Democrats, the media, and the organisation that’s wasting their money on this statue knew about Epstein and his victims for years and did nothing to help them while President Trump was calling for transparency, and is now delivering on it with thousands of pages of documents,” the statement continued.
“There’s very few people who have gone on the record and called Trump one of his good friends.”
The statue is accompanied by three plaques, two featuring excerpts from a 50th birthday letter Trump allegedly sent to Epstein in the early 2000s.
This letter was recently disclosed by the House Oversight Committee, prompting Trump’s legal team to file a $10 billion lawsuit, asserting the document’s non-existence.
The statue’s presence has sparked various reactions on Reddit, with one user remarking, “Whoever did this deserves every medal, award, and prize check in existence. They have won everything.”
Comments like “This is high caliber ultimate trolling right here. Take a note guys,” “When this is taken down, we should all scream about removing history, yeah?” and “Whoever spent their time, energy, and money to create this and pull off this stunt is a TRUE MF PATRIOT,” were also shared.
For some background, the 79-year-old former president and Epstein were reportedly close friends until an incident involving the alleged poaching of one of Trump’s staff by Epstein.
