Being a wealthy and renowned actor might seem like a dream come true, but it often involves the daunting task of shooting nude scenes.
Channing Tatum and Sandra Bullock, both esteemed in their careers, have shared insights into what it was like to film revealing scenes for an action movie they collaborated on.
In a recent episode of First We Feast’s Hot Ones, the Magic Mike star discussed his experience working alongside Bullock for their 2022 film, The Lost City.
Tatum recounted discovering that he had to disrobe on just the second day of filming.
What a way to break the ice on set! Tatum described the situation as a ‘fever dream’.
“Second day on set!” he exclaimed. “You know you have to walk onto set and you have to be like, ‘Hello everyone. My name’s Chan. I know we’ve only had really one more day, or one day to get to know each other.
“So, you’re going to see my d*** today. We’re going to get to know each other very well. This is my d***. My name’s Chan. I’ll get to know your names later.'”
Bullock had previously spoken about the experience of removing leeches from Tatum’s bare backside.
She shared with Stephen Colbert that she was ‘fully there. Full on face to face, with the, uh… landscape’.
“I had to spend some time down there, just making sure no leeches, and I had a lot to say to it. When you’re down there, you may as well just get to know it,” she joked.
During the Hot Ones interview, host Sean Evans inquired about the leech scene, mentioning a rumor that it took ’50 takes’ due to Tatum’s laughter.
“It wasn’t 50 takes, but it was a lot, it was, weirdly, the second day of filming … I knew Sandy, we have kids the same age and we went to the same preschool and whatnot,” Tatum said.
The actor humorously remarked: “And Sandy having to have like a whole monologue, that was the weirder thing more than her having to pick leeches off my butt,” he added. “It’s like a fever dream. It’s like a fever dream to even explain any of this.”
“It’s a hell of a day two, let me just say that,” Tatum added.
For the scene, The Lost City’s director Adam Nee required Tatum to be ‘completely naked’ except for a ‘sock protecting the front area’.
“You have to really like the person and feel safe with them. There was no weirdness,” Bullock said.
“You’d think there would be weirdness, but because he was so chill about it, he dropped everything and I spoke to it.”
Their friendship grew because their children attended the same pre-school, with Bullock previously sharing that their daughters, Everly and Laila, were initially ‘at each other’s throats’.
A year later, Tatum confirmed they had become friends, with the girls ‘wanting to hang out all the time’.
