‘Unique’ Netflix mini-series inspired by shocking true story racks up 33 million hours of viewing

A Netflix mini-series has captivated audiences worldwide, climbing to the top of the TV charts in 37 countries.

Currently, there’s no shortage of captivating content, ranging from a chilling true crime documentary to a series that has been declared the ‘drama of the year.’ Yet, the standout recommendation this week is a poignant TV series inspired by a haunting true story.

This five-part drama has taken the global Netflix TV charts by storm, even though it may not be widely known.

According to FlixPatrol, the series has been watched for over 33 million hours since its release on October 15.

The mini-series is set in the 1960s and features Tessa Ía from Narcos: Mexico as Valeria Goldberg, a mother of two from a prominent Jewish-Mexican family.

Her marriage to Leo Saltzman, played by Emiliano Zurita of Zorro fame, is more of a strategic alliance than a loving partnership.

When Valeria’s affair with Leo’s brother Samuel (played by Juan Manuel Bernal) is revealed, Leo seeks vengeance in an unimaginable way.

He kidnaps their two children, Isaac (Alexander Varela) and Tamara (Marion Siro), and leaves the country.

Heartbroken, Valeria is determined to find her children at any cost.

The Spanish-language series is inspired by the memoir “Nadie nos vio partir” by Tamara Trottner, who was abducted alongside her brother by their father in Mexico in 1968.

The series, titled “No One Saw Us Leave,” is now available for streaming on Netflix.

Though there aren’t enough Rotten Tomatoes reviews to generate a score, the drama has a 6.3 rating on IMDb.

One viewer, who rated the show 10/10, commented, “It’s so rare these days to see a TV series so well done, in all aspects. The story is unusual, interesting, and very engaging. The acting is superb.”

Another praised it as ‘beautifully made,’ stating it was ‘a series worth watching.’

A third viewer noted, “No One Saw Us Leave is a compelling example of a book-to-screen adaptation done right, avoiding too much unnecessary padding to deliver a good story.”

The series is also gaining momentum on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Describing it as their latest Netflix obsession, one viewer said, “It’s good and touching and sad, all at the same time.”

Another social media user questioned why more people weren’t discussing this hit series.

A third commenter called it a ‘must-watch.’
