The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra featured in ‘smart’ Prime Video mini-series now available in the US

Anya Chalotra, known for her role in The Witcher, also starred in a cunning mini-series now available on Prime Video.

Chalotra has returned to Netflix, reprising her role as Yennefer in the fourth season of The Witcher. The series has seen a significant change with Liam Hemsworth stepping in as the new Witcher, replacing Henry Cavill, who left the show in 2022, reportedly due to creative differences.

This new season is Hemsworth’s first appearance as Geralt of Rivia, the iconic white-haired monster hunter. Despite the new lead, fans of The Witcher believe that Chalotra’s performance has been a highlight this season.

An X user commented: “Yennefer really carrying s4 of The Witcher. Petition to change the name from Witcher to Yennefer of Vengerberg.”

Another fan referred to her as the ‘real MVP of The Witcher and the reason to keep watching’.

For those who can’t get enough of this talented British actress, she can also be seen in a compelling crime drama currently streaming on Prime Video. This mini-series, originally produced by the BBC in 2018, may have flown under the radar for some viewers. However, it is now accessible on Prime Video through the BritBox add-on.

Based on a 1936 Agatha Christie novel, this series features John Malkovich as an older, contemplative detective Hercule Poirot.

Set in 1933 England, amidst rising fascism and paranoia, Poirot tackles a series of murders forewarned by a set of teasing letters. Chalotra’s character, Lily Marbury, is the daughter of Rose Marbury (played by Shirley Henderson), who runs a boarding house in Bexhill—a town targeted by the enigmatic killer.

Lily is portrayed as a young, sensitive woman, somewhat sheltered by her mother’s sternness. She becomes entwined in the murder investigation when a crime occurs at the boarding house where she resides with her mother.

The series in question is called The ABC Murders, derived from Agatha Christie’s novel. It has received a commendable 71 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics applauding its ‘thrilling spirit’, ‘smart’ plot development, and Malkovich’s ‘sly performance’.

Clement Tyler Obropta of Film Inquiry praised the latter half for its ‘inventive, fulfilling twists’. Additionally, Brian Donaldson from The List described it as a ‘stylish and dynamic adaptation’.

The ABC Murders is available for streaming now on Prime Video through Britbox.
