Elizabeth Olsen appears to be well-acquainted with youth culture, as she recently shared her appreciation for the ‘6,7’ meme.
If you’re not up to speed or don’t have any young people around to keep you informed, ‘6,7’ has become a trendy phrase among the Gen Z crowd and TikTok users.
In fact, the term gained such popularity that schools decided to ban it from classrooms earlier this year.
As for what it means, Dictionary.com notes that it doesn’t really have a specific meaning, despite naming it Word of the Year for 2025.
If you’re as perplexed as I am, Elizabeth Olsen, the 36-year-old star of WandaVision, has offered some insight.
In a discussion about her upcoming role as a 90-year-old character in the film Eternity, Olsen mentioned it was a unique experience to embrace but admitted she feels “like an old lady in real life.”
Speaking to host Seth Meyers on his show Late Night with Seth Meyers, she remarked, “Not like, wise,” adding, “I do just feel a little out of touch with the times.
“I don’t really know what’s going on in culture.
“But I do know about 6,7,” Olsen continued. “I’m really into 6,7.”
When Seth mentioned that his own children frequently use the term, she offered to explain the meme.
“So I think the reason they love it is because it’s absurd and random. And how great.
“Like, I think we’re really doing a lot of things that are, I don’t know, maybe cynical or pointing at something, and there’s something really funny to me about the abstraction and absurdity of just getting excited about two numbers that are in order.”
Olsen elaborated: “It’s not like a funny combination. It’s just like how it’s always been.”
Her interpretation seems to align perfectly with the Dictionary definition, which describes it as ‘meaningless, ubiquitous and nonsensical.’

Olsen’s comments about the meme have caused quite a stir online.
One user on X commented, “Why is Elizabeth Olsen explaining 6-7 in my fyp? LMAO.”
Another added: “I never would’ve expected Elizabeth Olsen would know what 6-7 is,” using an emoji to express amusement.
“Elizabeth Olsen knowing about 6-7 was not on my bingo card,” another echoed, with many others expressing that they ‘never felt older than this moment.’
“How does she know more about it than me,” another joked.
The meme’s origins can be traced to hip-hop artist Skrilla, who released the track ‘Doot Doot’ last December.
In the song, he raps: “6-7, I just bipped right on the highway (bip, bip).”
Dictionary.com suggests the phrase ‘has all the hallmarks of brainrot.’
“It’s the logical endpoint of being perpetually online, scrolling endlessly, consuming content fed to users by algorithms trained by other algorithms.”
Now you’re in the know!
