What would be your course of action if you discovered that humanity was facing an imminent catastrophe, destined to erase all life on Earth within weeks?
While some might choose to spend their final days indulging in alcohol or panicking, the followers of Prophet Riaz Ahmed Gohar Shahi continue to pursue their mission of achieving world peace.
This mission persists despite Shahi’s prediction that a comet will collide with Earth by the end of the year.
In his 2000 publication, The Religion of God, Shahi made this apocalyptic forecast, which sparked a fervent following among his supporters.
However, in September 2001, Shahi mysteriously disappeared without a trace, and the circumstances of his disappearance remain unresolved.

In the years following his disappearance, his supporters have expanded the reach of the Messiah Foundation International (MFI) with the primary goal of promoting world peace, which they believe is the only means to prevent the comet from striking Earth.
According to Shahi, God decided to send a comet to destroy the Earth due to the ongoing proliferation of nuclear weapons and global conflicts driven by materialism.
Shahi, who is seen as a blend of the second coming of Jesus, Islam’s Mahdi, and the final incarnation of Vishnu, warned that humanity had only ’20 to 25 years’ to prevent this catastrophe, leaving little time to establish world peace.
His followers now assert that the ‘mammoth comet’ is destined to impact Earth in 2026, claiming that governments are aware of its impending trajectory.
Based on Shahi’s predictions, his followers are convinced that human ingenuity alone will not suffice to avert this disaster.
They state on their website: “Although scientists think that by 2026 we will have the technology necessary to destroy or redirect the comet, there is a chance that we simply won’t.
“Increased natural disasters in recent years and the state of the world’s resources today are clear signs that the end is near.”

Despite these claims, scientists and astronomers worldwide have not identified any celestial bodies posing a threat to Earth in the coming months or years. The nearest known comet is predicted to remain 170 million miles away from our planet.
Even if a comet does not threaten humanity as one did the dinosaurs, Shahi’s followers maintain that ‘end times’ are upon us regardless.
They highlight enduring global tensions, particularly between East and West, as well as the ever-present potential for World War Three to trigger an apocalyptic event.
With the world witnessing mass civilian casualties in regions like Congo, Sudan, and Gaza throughout 2025, the group’s assertion that we face an impending catastrophe seems difficult to dispute.
MFI declares: “Everywhere in the world that we look, human life has lost its value; suffering is the order of the day. Many of us have lost faith in humanity itself.”
