Jamie Lee Curtis has expressed her sorrow over the loss of her friends, Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, who were discovered deceased in their Los Angeles home.
The police responded to a call regarding medical assistance at a Brentwood residence around 3:38 PM local time on Sunday, December 14. Upon their arrival, authorities found the 78-year-old filmmaker and his 68-year-old wife had tragically passed away.
The case has been taken over by the LAPD Robbery Homicide Division, which is now investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Many tributes have been made in memory of the couple, including those from Curtis and her husband, Christopher Guest. Guest had worked with Rob Reiner in his directorial debut, *This Is Spinal Tap*, and also in *The Princess Bride*.

In a statement, Curtis shared: “Christopher and I are numb and sad and shocked about the violent, tragic deaths of our dear friends Rob and Michele Singer Reiner and our ONLY focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families and we will offer all support possible to help them.”
She added, “There will be plenty of time later to discuss the creative lives we shared and the great political and social impact they both had on the entertainment industry, early childhood development, the fight for gay marriage and their global care for a world in crisis. We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”
Authorities have detained and charged the couple’s middle child, Nick Reiner, who is 32 years old. Nick was taken into custody on Sunday and charged the following day, December 15, with a felony-level crime according to records from the LASD Inmate Center.
Nick Reiner co-wrote the 2016 film *Being Charlie*, which his father directed. The film is partially inspired by Nick’s personal struggles with addiction.

Before Nick’s arrest, the LAPD stated that detectives had been interviewing a family member about the incident, but emphasized that they were not “looking for anyone as a suspect or in any other manner at this time.”
Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton commented, “We’re going to try to speak to every family member that we can to get to the facts of this investigation.”
In addition to tributes from Lee Curtis and her partner, others have expressed their condolences for Rob and Michele, including California Governor Gavin Newsom.
Rob Reiner, known for his support of the Democratic Party, was described by Newsom as “a passionate advocate for children and for civil rights.” The governor also noted, “Rob will be remembered for his remarkable filmography and for his extraordinary contribution to humanity.”
