Jane’s Addiction Breaks Up Following Surprising On-Stage Fight

Jane’s Addiction is disbanding over a year after a dramatic incident between two members during a Boston concert.

After trying to ‘resolve our differences’, the band has ultimately chosen to pursue ‘separate and musical endeavours’.

The confrontation on September 13 last year involved frontman Perry Farrell suddenly losing his temper and hitting guitarist Dave Navarro in front of a shocked audience.

Farrell reportedly cursed into his microphone before lashing out at Navarro, who attempted to defend himself by raising his arm.

Following the cancellation of the show, crew members quickly intervened, restraining and removing Farrell from the stage with the help of bass player Eric Avery.

This altercation led to the abrupt end of Jane’s Addiction’s tour, and the band has now officially disbanded.

In a statement on Instagram, Jane’s Addiction addressed the situation: “We would like to clarify the events surrounding the cancellation of the tour after the show in Boston in September 2024.

“After that show, without notice to Perry, we unilaterally determined it would be best to not continue the tour and made inaccurate statements about Perry’s mental health which we regret.”

The statement went on to express the band’s desire to preserve their ‘legacy’ despite the breakup.

“Today we are here to announce that we have come together one last time to resolve our differences, so that the legacy of Jane’s Addiction will remain the work the four of us created together,” it continued.

“We now look forward to the future as we embark on our separate musical and creative endeavors. Jane’s Addiction will forever live in our hearts. We are proud of the music we created together.

“You, the fans, are our lifeblood, and we will always appreciate.”

Farrell has since joined in a statement with the band, offering an apology for the incident on stage.

“I’d like to address what happened on stage last year,” the 66-year-old stated. “I’ve reflected on it and know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have.

“I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”

The statement further emphasized: “My aim has always been to give our audience the best possible show, something real, honest and positive.”
