Victoria Beckham recently found herself in a bit of a tricky situation when she inadvertently made a comment that seemed to be at the expense of her fellow Spice Girls members.
Over recent months, Posh has opened up more about her personal life, especially with the release of her Netflix documentary, Victoria Beckham. In it, she discusses her self-image, public perception, and her life following her time with the Spice Girls.
In the documentary, the 51-year-old finally delves into a longstanding question on the internet: the reason behind her often ‘miserable’ or ‘moody’ appearance in public. And no, she doesn’t attribute it to a dislike of being photographed.
Just yesterday (20 December), while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the fashion mogul and former pop star was prompted to rank the Spice Girls based on their dancing abilities. But rather than engaging with the game, Beckham offered a surprising and candid response.
The host posed the question: “Victoria, rank the Spice Girls on their dancing skills – you, Mel B, Mel C, Emma, and Geri.”
Beckham, instead of singling out one member, included everyone, herself included, in her response.
She answered: “Okay, none of us – and I said this in the documentary – were that great at anything. We just worked together; we worked really well together. We were, we were all underdogs who collectively were really good – we were really good.”
This remark could be seen as a backhanded compliment, yet it was delivered with a touch of humor.
Fans quickly came to her defense, applauding the famously sarcastic star.

While some interpreted her remarks as shade, a Reddit user commented: “These comments are hilarious.
“She made the most non-ego response that doesn’t single out or put one member above or below another and people still find a way to s**t on her.”
Another user remarked, “I feel like the Spice Girls are one of the few good examples of something ‘manufactured’ being good. They found their place with the ‘girl power’ and ‘friendship’ and just having fun, and it worked. Like I don’t remember anyone trying to convince the world that any of them were once in a lifetime vocalists or songwriters. It was just fun.”
Beckham has also previously opened up about how her confidence was affected after the Spice Girls disbanded and her solo career didn’t reach the heights she had hoped for.
“When people are mean, and you’re hearing things, and you’re seeing things, and you’re constantly made to feel you’re not good enough, that really hurts,” she admitted, before adding with a touch of humor: “People thought I was a miserable cow that never smiled, and they’re not wrong.”
Her documentary, released in October, has shed light on many untold stories from the life she shares with her family.
