Freddie Mercury’s rumored ‘hidden child’ passes away at 48

The woman who claimed to be the ‘secret’ daughter of the legendary Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury has tragically died at the age of 48 after a prolonged battle with a rare form of cancer.

Her identity was partially disclosed in a surprising biography last year, which suggested that the renowned British musician allegedly had a child unknown to the public in the 35 years since his death. She was referred to simply as ‘B’.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, her widower Thomas announced that she had died ‘peacefully after a long battle with chordoma, a rare spinal cancer, leaving two sons aged nine and seven’.

The statement concluded: “B is now with her beloved and loving father in the world of thoughts. Her ashes were scattered to the wind over the Alps.”

The revelation of ‘B’ stunned Queen enthusiasts globally when biographer Lesley Ann Jones disclosed the woman’s assertion of being the Bohemian Rhapsody singer’s daughter in her 2025 book Love, Freddie.

B shared with the author that she had been brought up by another family but was frequently visited by her rockstar father in the years leading up to his untimely death in 1991, at the age of 45. She also claimed to have undergone DNA tests to verify his paternity.

Information about this enigmatic love child is scarce, but it is said that she resided in France and pursued a career as a doctor later in life. The Mail has also claimed that the singer used affectionate nicknames for her, such as ‘little froggie’ and ‘trĂ©sor’.

Despite Mercury’s reputation as a gay man, he also had relationships with women at times, including Mary Austin. It’s alleged that one of these relationships, with a married woman, resulted in ‘B’, whom the star purportedly referred to as ‘Bibi’.

According to the Mail, all members of Queen’s band were aware of the frontman’s concealed child but chose to keep it secret to safeguard her identity. However, Mercury’s close friend and former girlfriend, Austin, told The Times it would be ‘astonishing’ if B were his daughter.

Biographer Lesley Ann Jones expressed her sorrow in a statement after B’s passing at home in France: “I am devastated by the loss of this woman who became my close friend, who had come to me with a selfless aim: to brush aside all those who have had free rein with Freddie’s story for 32 years, to challenge their lies and their rewriting of his life, and to deliver the truth.

“At the end of her life, it was all that mattered to her. She was very ill throughout the four years that we worked together. But she was on a mission. She put herself and her own needs last.”

Apparently, B had lived with this spinal cancer since childhood, causing her family to relocate frequently to access the appropriate treatment. Yet, the alleged father Mercury was never far from her thoughts, with the child claiming to follow his world tours on a globe that the star had gifted her during one of his visits.

Prior to the release of Jones’ book, B issued a statement about what it had been like to witness her father supposedly misrepresented: “After his death, I had to learn to live with the attacks against him, the misrepresentations of him, and with the feeling that my Dad now belonged to everyone.

“I cried and mourned my Dad, while fans all around the world mourned Freddie. When you are 15 years old, it’s not easy. I had to become an adult without him, and live all the structuring moments and events without his support.”
