Timothée Chalamet recently shared an unsettling experience from the set of his A24 film Marty Supreme.
Chalamet continues to impress audiences with his performance in Marty Supreme, a film that has garnered significant acclaim within the industry.
The movie, inspired by the life of table tennis legend Marty Reisman, features Chalamet in a leading role. He stars alongside Kevin O’Leary, who plays Milton Rockwell, and Gwyneth Paltrow, who portrays Kay Stone, Rockwell’s wife.
However, behind the scenes, the atmosphere wasn’t always ideal, as Chalamet revealed.
During a Q&A session with Robert Downey Jr at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles on Wednesday (January 14), Chalamet opened up about an incident on set.
Unexpectedly, he admitted that a fellow cast member had threatened him while he attempted to provoke a stronger performance from the individual.

Sharing the details, Chalamet recounted: “I won’t say who, but in that motel sequence, there are a lot of non-actors…that I find it really thrilling to work with, but sometimes it would take multiple takes to really get something out of them.”
He added: “And I’m really getting in the guy’s face, and I’m really trying to get him angry with me. I was saying to Josh [Safdie, the movie’s director], he’s not getting angry with me, he’s not getting angry with me.”
The background actor, however, did not appreciate Chalamet’s method and responded with a warning.

Chalamet recalled: “I did another take, and then the guy said, ‘I was just in jail for 30 years. You really don’t want to f**k with me. You don’t want to see me angry’.”
With a nervous chuckle, Chalamet recounted questioning the director about the cast member, saying: “I said to Josh, Holy s**t, who do you have me opposite, man?”
Despite the tense moment on set, Chalamet’s performance has already earned him two awards, and many anticipate he might take home an Oscar this year.
He has received a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy and a Critics Choice Award for Best Actor for his role in the film.
