Cher had a few missteps at the Grammys that likely caused some behind-the-scenes anxiety as she attempted to leave the stage early and made a mistake with an announcement.
While the Grammy award show is filled with a lively and entertaining atmosphere, there is a team of individuals working diligently to ensure everything proceeds smoothly.
Unfortunately, Cher inadvertently disrupted this with a series of errors.
On February 1, Cher made an unexpected appearance to accept her Lifetime Achievement Award, even delivering an acceptance speech.
During her speech, which was well-received by the audience, she remarked: “I knew what I wanted to be when I was five years old, and I was famous at 19, and had a top rated show in my twenties, actually.
“But it didn’t occur to me how rough my career was going to be and my life was going to be. And I’m not saying, ‘Oh, poor me,’ but whatever. I was either a loser or winning an Oscar. I’m sure a lot of you in the audience know what I’m talking about.”

She concluded with the encouraging words: “Never give up on your dream, no matter what happens. Live it, be it, and if it’s not happening now, it will happen soon. So that’s all I have to say. Thank you.”
Cher then attempted to leave the stage, saying, ‘I guess I’m supposed to walk off now, alright’ and began to make her exit to enthusiastic applause.
However, comedian Trevor Noah seemed slightly anxious as he called her back, requesting that she announce the nominees for Record of the Year.
Simultaneously, someone from backstage appeared to be communicating with Cher, likely advising her to remain on stage.
Cher maintained a smile throughout the situation, with the audience supporting her, yet the singer went on to make another mistake.
While announcing, Cher awaited the teleprompter’s cue for the winner, leading to an awkward pause before she opened the envelope in her hand.
She incorrectly announced that the Record of the Year was awarded to Luther Vandross, who passed away 20 years ago.
The true winners were rapper Kendrick Lamar and singer SZA, with the winning song being ‘Luther’.
The artists appeared to acknowledge the error as they rose to their feet, expressing gratitude to those around them before proceeding to the stage.
