Trump’s Unusual Reaction to Question About Valentine’s Day Plans with Melania

When a journalist nonchalantly questioned Donald Trump about his Valentine’s Day plans with his wife, Melania Trump, the response was unexpectedly awkward.

The romance between the President and First Lady began in 1998 at a party organized by Paolo Zampolli. The pair soon started dating, got married in 2005, and had their son, Barron Trump, in 2006.

Given their long history together, Trump’s reaction to what transpired on February 14th was rather perplexing. During a conversation typically reserved for discussions on international issues like the Russia-Ukraine situation, Venezuela, and Iran, a reporter threw in an innocent question: “Did you have any Valentine’s Day plans with her?”

Despite the question fitting the day’s theme, Trump, after seemingly mishearing it but recognizing Melania’s mention, initially remarked: “She’s on the plane, we have a movie star on the plane.” This comment referred to the First Lady’s film role.

When the reporter reiterated the Valentine’s Day inquiry, instead of offering a charming story or a playful response, Trump seemed genuinely caught off guard and quickly moved on without providing a clear answer.

“Did I what?” he inquired.

“Did you do anything for Valentine’s with her? Did you give her flowers?” the reporter persisted.

With a slightly awkward demeanor, Trump eventually replied: “Better not tell you that. Goodbye, everybody.”

Amused, he added, “That’s the toughest question.”

Thus, Melania’s Valentine’s Day gift this year remains a mystery. Nevertheless, Trump took a moment to commend and promote her film, Melania.

“No, she’s…I’m proud of the fact her movie’s so successful. It’s a tremendous hit,” the president remarked, before acknowledging her efforts with children affected by the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

“She does some very consequential work. I think you’re going to see in the end that she’s going to go down as one of the truly great first ladies when you see what she’s doing with Russia, Ukraine,” Trump added. “She’s done a good job; she works very hard.”

Despite her film not receiving favorable reviews, garnering just 11% on Rotten Tomatoes, the First Lady expressed her feelings about the feedback during the premiere.

“I’m very proud of the film so people may like it, may don’t like it, and that’s their choice,” she told CNN. “We achieved what we want to achieve. For myself, it’s already successful. I’m very proud of what we did.”

The couple was seen attending a dinner at Mar-a-Lago on Valentine’s Day. The president was captured on video dancing solo to a live band playing Lee Greenwood’s anthem “God Bless the U.S.A.”
