Noah Kahan defends Chappell Roan after her latest clash with ‘parasitic’ paparazzi

Chappell Roan latest run-in with the paparazzi and autograph hunters has sparked Noah Kahan to come to her defence.

Tension flared over the weekend after Roan was recorded outside a restaurant ahead of dinner, where photographers and people claiming to be fans were gathered nearby.

In the clip shared online, the ‘Pink Pony Club’ singer is seen confronting those around her, saying they’d crossed a line and accusing them of “harassing” her.

As the video spread, ‘Stick Season’ singer Kahan weighed in yesterday (March 10) with a blunt response.

Posting to Instagram Stories in reaction to coverage of the moment, he wrote: “Maybe they should just idk leave her alone?”

He then escalated his criticism, arguing that some people who present themselves as supporters are actually part of the problem when they follow artists in public.

“Also those dudes saying ‘I’m a huge fan’ following her around are scalpers and are as bad as the paparazzi,” he said. “F— em all.”

Kahan later elaborated in a video, describing what he sees as a major difference between genuine fans and those he believes are tracking celebrities for financial gain.

“These people literally find out where you’re staying, where you’re flying in to, where your team, family, whoever is staying – they are clearly not your fans, they just sit outside places so they can try to guilt you into signing s— so they can sell it,” he said.

He continued by claiming the tactics can mislead onlookers who don’t know the backstory.

“They trick people like you – who are just watching the video and don’t know what’s going on – into thinking that someone’s being rude to one of their fans, when they’re really just manipulating you.

“They’re scummy, they’re manipulative, they’re parasitic, and, yeah. F— them, seriously. Don’t feel bad for them.”

Roan, meanwhile, had already shared her side of the experience in the moment as she tried to make her way into dinner.

She said: “I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me.”

She then singled out one person in the group, claiming they had ignored repeated requests to back off.

She also pointed to one person in particular and said: “This person I’ve asked several times to go away, and they will not. They’re hiding their face because they’re ashamed – because I’ve asked them.”

Addressing the wider crowd, Roan said her boundaries were being ignored.

Roan then addressed the group directly, saying they were ‘people that are completely disregarding all of my boundaries’.

“All of you, I’m asking you kindly to please leave me alone and stop following me and harassing me,” she said.

When someone asked her to sign an autograph, she refused.

When asked for an autograph, she replied: “I’m not gonna sign.”

As the video continued, Roan summed up the experience for anyone watching.

“This is what it’s like, if you were wondering how it is,” she added.
