Bruno Mars responds after seeming to like post calling Taylor Swift ‘talentless’

Bruno Mars has spoken out after it appeared his X account liked a post taking aim at Taylor Swift.

The 40-year-old addressed the situation on social media on March 13, after the alleged activity on his profile prompted confusion among fans.

Pop Faction reported that Mars’ account seemed to have liked a post that referred to Swift as “talentless”.

Swift recently wrapped her record-breaking Eras Tour in December 2024, closing out a run of 149 shows across 51 cities on five continents.

The global trek went on to become the highest-grossing tour of all time, bringing in more than $1 billion.

Following the tour, Swift released her 12th studio album, Secret Life of a Showgirl, which arrived in 2025 after the final Eras Tour dates.

The post at the centre of the claims included a video of Swift performing during the Eras Tour.

It was accompanied by a caption which read: “Genuinely how did she get famous? White privilege is crazy because imagine if an Asian was as talentless as her.”

According to Pop Faction’s reporting, the like was later removed from the post.

After discussion of the alleged like spread online, Mars responded on March 15 by replying to a post referencing the situation.

Responding to the post, he wrote: “Taylor has always been supportive and kind to me. Only love over here.”

In a follow up to this post, he then went on to add: “Spread Love on these apps!”

It remains unclear where the original post first came from before it began circulating more widely.

Mars and Silk Sonic bandmate Anderson .Paak have previously made light of chart competition with Swift, after Silk Sonic placed second on the album chart in November 2021.

Writing on X at the time, Paak, 40, said: “Looks like I linked up with the wrong pop star!”

He went on to jokingly address Swift, adding: “Hey @taylorswift13 is your number still the same!? Lmk if you need help with 1989, I’m available! #ShakeItOff.”

Mars responded by quoting Paak’s post and writing: “It’s the betrayal for me.”

He then included a picture of Paak photoshopped onto Swift’s album 1989.

Mars most recently performed at the 2026 Grammys and is now gearing up for a world tour in support of his fourth studio album, The Romantic, released in February.

The run is set to begin at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 10, before continuing with shows across North America and Europe.
