Victoria Villarroel has opened up about the moment she and Kylie Jenner both realised her stint as Jenner’s assistant had run its course — and why it was time for her to step back from the Kardashian-Jenner inner circle professionally.
Villarroel spent years working closely with the reality TV star, managing day-to-day tasks and keeping Jenner’s schedule and personal life running smoothly. She held the role from 2015 until the pair ended their working arrangement in 2020.
While speaking on the Better Half with Stas and Vic podcast — which she co-hosts with Stassie Karanikolaou, another longtime friend connected to the family — Villarroel said she can still pinpoint the exact moment everything shifted, saying it feels as fresh as if it happened yesterday.
According to Villarroel, it wasn’t a huge argument or dramatic event. Instead, it was a small exchange that made it clear their dynamic had evolved. “This was year five,” the former assistant said. “We were in the kitchen and [Jenner] was like, ‘Vic, I need my laptop, it’s upstairs,’ and I was like, ‘Oof, who’s gonna get that?’”

She joked about it while telling the story, but the next part, she admitted, highlighted why continuing as an employee no longer made sense.
“I said something crazy like, ‘Oof, that seems far, I don’t want to go get your laptop,’” the former assistant said, acknowledging that while a close friend might say that, it doesn’t land the same way coming from a staff member.
Villarroel explained that the closeness was inevitable after spending so much time together. “Obviously me and Kylie had a working relationship, but you can’t not get so close with a person you see every single day,” Villarroel said. “You know everything about them, you’re with them at all times — good or bad.”
When she left the position in 2020, speculation swirled about why. Villarroel addressed it at the time on Instagram, writing: “I worked with Kylie for 5 years and she became one of my closest friends. We both decided it was time to grow without each other professionally about a year ago.”
She added in the same statement: “She’s still one of my best friends and our relationship has only gotten stronger.”

On the podcast, Villarroel expanded on what she was feeling behind the scenes as she prepared to step away, saying: “I remember being so nervous and thinking, ‘Am I making the right decision? What if I’m leaving the best job I could ever have?’”
She said people around her warned her not to walk away from an opportunity others would do anything to have — even down to handling small errands like grabbing a laptop.
But Villarroel said Jenner understood the bigger picture and supported her decision. The former assistant added: “She the most understanding person, she was like, ‘Oh my God, Vic, I want you to thrive and I’m going to be here supporting you and I love you so much.’”
Although their professional relationship ended in 2020, the two have remained friends, turning up at events in Los Angeles and staying in touch — just without Villarroel acting as Jenner’s assistant anymore.
