Meghan Trainor has shared details about a message she received from Ashley Tisdale after the online fallout surrounding claims of a “toxic” celebrity mom group.
The conversation around the group intensified after Tisdale published an essay in The Cut, where she wrote about feeling “excluded” and “frozen out.”
In the essay, Tisdale said she ultimately stepped away from a celebrity mom circle and characterized the dynamic as “toxic,” though she did not identify any individuals by name.
Even without specifics, the article quickly fueled speculation online about who she might have meant.
People pointed to past photos and hangouts linking Tisdale with Meghan Trainor, Mandy Moore, and Hilary Duff, and rumors spread despite nothing being officially confirmed.
Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, was one of the more vocal responders, posting a sharp reworking of the kind of headline often used for personal essays: “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.”

Trainor has now said Tisdale reached out to her directly once the situation gained traction.
In an April 15 interview with Us Weekly, Trainor explained: “I texted all of them.
“Ashley texted me like, ‘I’m sorry, your name got dragged in’.”
Trainor also shared how she responded to the message amid the attention, saying: “I was like, ‘It’s all right, girl. The world’s a silly, crazy place, and they just want something to talk about’.”
She added that she could understand how upsetting it must have been for Tisdale to feel left out, saying she “felt bad” for the High School Musical actor and suggested the situation may have spiraled due to misunderstandings.
“I felt bad that she was ever that sad, and I think it was just a lot of miscommunication and confusion,” she said, adding: “I wish them all the best.”

Hilary Duff has also spoken publicly about the controversy and how it affected her.
Recalling her first reaction on the Call her Daddy podcast, she said: “I felt really sad. I honestly felt really sad. I was, like, pretty, pretty taken aback and felt just, like, sad.”
She continued: “I have so many groups of friends. I’m so lucky. Motherhood has brought on like, I have my core group of friends who have been my ride or dies for 20 years, 10 to 20 years, and I have like tons of different groups of mom friends because I have four kids, you know?
“It sucks to read something that’s like not true, and it sucks on behalf of like six women in all of their lives.”
