Hailey Bieber has opened up about the now-viral Coachella Weekend 2 moment when Billie Eilish joined Justin Bieber on stage as his “one less lonely girl”.
The crowd erupted when Bieber launched into his throwback 2009 track ‘One Less Lonely Girl’ from his debut album My World, before bringing Eilish out mid-performance.
Caught completely off guard, Eilish dropped to her knees as Bieber sang to her, then moved onto a stool, hiding her face behind her hands as she processed what was happening.
The scene echoed a signature segment from Bieber’s early tours, when fans would be invited on stage during the song.
For Eilish, it carried even more weight: she’s been an outspoken Bieber fan since childhood.
Afterward, fans online tried to figure out how the cameo came together, especially as clips showed Eilish near the front of the stage alongside Hailey Bieber before the moment unfolded.
Hailey has since shared that it wasn’t spontaneous at all—and that she’d been thinking about it for quite some time.
“It was incredible, we love Billie so much, we adore her, couldn’t love her more. I just thought it would be a full circle moment to have that happen at Coachella after they met for the first time at Coachella,” Hailey explained to Time at the Time100 Gala in New York.
“I had been tinking about this idea for months… I thought it would be a really fun idea so to see it come to life and to see it happen, obviously like we told her in the moment… she is just the best woman and I couldn’t love her more truly.”
Eilish has previously spoken about her long-standing love of Bieber, telling James Corden in 2019 that she was nervous about running into him at Coachella, where she first met him in the past.
“All Coachella weekend, I was like, ‘Don’t surprise me with Justin Bieber,’ she said.
“I can’t take it. I can’t have to do this show and Justin Bieber’s going to be there.”
Following the performance, Eilish posted on Instagram, sharing childhood photos that highlighted just how deep her fandom went.
In one snapshot, she stands in a glittery dress in a bedroom filled with posters of the ‘Baby’ singer; in another, she’s pictured outdoors wearing Bieber merch.
“I’m a Bieber girl. In a Bieber world, it’s Biebertastic, let’s Bieber blast it, Bieber flips his hair, wears purple everywhere, it’s a Bieber nation, thank god for his creation! Come on Bieber spread the FEVER!” She wrote.
