With the 2026 Met Gala officially underway on Monday night, A-listers turned out in force for fashion’s biggest evening — and Zoe Kravitz drew plenty of eyes not only for what she wore, but for how she posed.
The 37-year-old actor stepped out in a Saint Laurent gown by Anthony Vaccarello, crafted entirely from elaborate black lace. In keeping with the evening’s aesthetic cues, she leaned into a Rococo-inspired shape, complete with dramatic hip panniers to create an exaggerated silhouette.
But beyond the dress itself, it was one specific detail that set tongues wagging: Kravitz repeatedly posed with her left hand tucked out of sight, concealed in the folds of her skirt.
That choice has only intensified online speculation that she and Harry Styles have quietly taken the next step. Because engagement rings are traditionally worn on the left hand, some viewers interpreted the hidden-hand pose as a deliberate attempt to keep any jewellery from being spotted.

Talk of a possible engagement first picked up momentum last week, when the pair were seen walking through London and Kravitz appeared to be wearing a striking diamond ring on that hand.
After that, the rumours gained more traction when sources said to be close to the couple told People that the pair is ‘confirmed’ to be engaged, following eight months together.
Even so, neither Kravitz nor Styles has publicly addressed the reports, leaving plenty of room for interpretation — and making her carefully chosen pose on the carpet feel even more pointed to some observers.
Whether she actually wore an engagement ring to the Gala remains unclear, but Vogue’s liveblog did reference a ring, adding to speculation that there may be something behind the whispers.

The Met Gala has delivered plenty of headline-making outfits over the years, but attendees are expected to follow both a theme and a dress code — even if those guidelines leave a lot of room for creativity.
The event also serves as the opening celebration for the Costume Institute’s spring exhibition, and the Gala’s theme typically reflects that show, paired with a looser dress code designed to encourage interpretation.
This year’s theme is ‘Costume Art’, aligned with a Costume Institute exhibition exploring the relationship between fine art and fashion by placing paintings and sculptures alongside historical and modern dress.
Organisers say the exhibition addresses ‘the centrality of the dressed body in the museum’s vast collection’.
The accompanying dress code is deliberately broad: Fashion is Art.
For some, that kind of open-ended brief feels even harder to decode than ‘smart-casual’. British Vogue says the dress code ‘encourages attendees to consider the many ways that designers use the body as their blank canvas’.
