Sydney Sweeney fans won’t have to wait too long for another adults-only project from the actor, following the big response to 2025’s erotic thriller The Housemaid.
But before that, there’s a smaller R-rated title from a few years back that many viewers either missed entirely or struggled to track down via major streaming services.
Appearing nude on screen isn’t unusual for Sweeney, 28, who has taken on bold roles across multiple productions—something that’s been especially noticeable to audiences watching the most recent season of Euphoria.
If you’re looking for another recent film featuring the actor, one option is the 2023 under-the-radar thriller Americana, which remained difficult to watch for most people after only a limited theatrical release.

Directed by first-time filmmaker Tony Tost, Americana wrapped production in 2022, showed at South by Southwest in 2023, and then didn’t reach cinemas for a wider run until last year—meaning a lot of people never got the chance to see it.
The story follows an ensemble of characters, including Sweeney, who become fixated on a rare artifact tied to the Lakota tribe of Native American. Much of the action unfolds in a small town in South Dakota as different groups close in on the same prize.
Sweeney plays Penny Jo Poplin, a diner waitress who decides to take matters into her own hands by plotting to steal the item from the people who took it—hoping to cash in herself. The catch is that she’s far from the only person with a criminal plan in motion.

Anyone expecting something closer to Euphoria in tone may be surprised, though: Sweeney’s nervous, stuttering waitress stays fully clothed throughout the film.
Instead, the R rating stems from the movie’s adult subject matter and bursts of graphic violence, including scenes involving Eric Dane, who brings a particularly harsh edge to the story amid his ALS diagnosis.
After years of being tough to find online, Americana is finally set to arrive on streaming next month—three years after its first SXSW screening in 2023.
Viewers will be able to watch it on Hulu starting June 26, ending a long wait for those who wanted to see it at home.
And if a neo-Western crime thriller with a stacked cast (also featuring Halsey) sounds like your kind of film, it’s also available to rent or buy ahead of that date through Amazon Prime or Apple TV.
