Tonight (May 31), the much-talked-about season 3 finale of Euphoria is set to air — and a lot of viewers think it could also mark the end of the show.
Season three has dominated conversation and generated plenty of online backlash, largely because of Cassie’s explicit OnlyFans storyline involving Sydney Sweeney’s character.
In the plot, Cassie originally signs up to raise money for her wedding to Nate (Jacob Elordi) and later keeps going to help clear his debts. But the season took a dramatic turn in the penultimate episode when Nate was killed after being bit by a snake during a period of temporary captivity.
Many fans said they were devastated by the twist. One wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Nate death’s is so sickening to think about that’s like one of the worst ways to go out… I feel slightly bad for him.”

The series first launched in 2019 and quickly became a worldwide hit, turning Sweeney and Elordi into major names as they appeared alongside Zendaya, who leads the cast.
Zendaya, however, has suggested the story may be nearing its conclusion. Speaking with Drew Barrymore, when asked whether season three would be the end, the Spider-Man star said: “I think so, yeah. That closure is coming.”
So far, HBO Max hasn’t confirmed a fourth season. Earlier this year, creator Sam Levinson told Variety he had ‘no plans’ for season four, explaining he was concentrating on making season three the strongest it could be at the time the interview ran in April.
Levinson also said he approaches each installment by writing it ‘as if it’s the last’.
Still, the episode is currently labeled a ‘season finale’ rather than a ‘series finale,’ which leaves room for the possibility of a return.
With the finale arriving tonight, viewers will soon find out whether this is a temporary stopping point — or the final chapter of Euphoria.

If the show does continue, fans may be in for another lengthy gap. Season two wrapped in 2022, with season three arriving four years later.
Extended breaks aren’t new for the series — there was also a three-year wait between seasons one and two, with production delayed for more than a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
For now, it’s a case of watching and waiting.
At the same time, some viewers feel season three has lost momentum, with a number of longtime fans sounding more relieved than excited. Reacting to tonight’s final episode, one person said: “Thank God, it’s been an horrific watch so far.”
Another added: “Definitely ready to end. I skipped through last week’s episode the whole time lol.”
A third wrote: “It was an entertaining season but I’m glad it’s ending too much time has passed and there’s not much left of the show!”
