Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO are ending their marriage after nearly a decade together.
According to court records, the 41-year-old country singer filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee on May 18. TMZ was first to report the filing on June 15.
The news arrived just months after the pair were seen supporting each other publicly during awards season, including at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where they appeared affectionate on the red carpet.
That night also saw Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, win Best Contemporary Country Album. During his acceptance speech, he made a heartfelt reference to his wife and the role she played in helping him turn his life around.
“I want to thank my beautiful wife,” he said at the time.”I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”
People close to the former couple have described the split as entirely “mutual” and said they are treating it as a “private family matter.”

The news has sparked widespread reaction online, especially because the pair were only a little more than two months away from what would have been their 10th wedding anniversary on August 31.
Over the years, Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO spoke candidly about the unusual path their relationship took. Their story began in 2015 after meeting at a concert on Fremont Street in Las Vegas.
At that stage, Jelly Roll was broke, dealing with legal troubles, and living in a converted van as he worked to build a music career.
Bunnie XO has also been open about her own circumstances at the time, saying she was working as a high-end escort when they first met.
Their relationship progressed quickly. A year later, Jelly Roll proposed on stage in Las Vegas.
In keeping with that impulsive energy, they went to the Little White Wedding Chapel the same night and got married on August 31, 2016.
Throughout their marriage, neither tried to sell the image of a flawless romance. They often pushed back on being called ‘couple goals’, saying their relationship had been shaped by serious struggles behind the scenes.

The couple did separate for a period in 2018. Bunnie later reflected on that chapter during her Dumb Blonde podcast, explaining that their “castle in the sand had to crumble so we could rebuild on solid ground.”
Jelly Roll has likewise spoken openly about mistakes he made during the marriage, once describing his infidelity as “one of the worst moments of my adulthood.”
Even after those difficult periods, they seemed to have reached a stronger place in recent years. In August 2023, they returned to the same Las Vegas chapel where they originally married and renewed their vows.
The separation is likely to be especially sad news for listeners of Bunnie’s podcast, where she had recently discussed the couple’s emotional efforts to grow their family through IVF and surrogacy.
Jelly Roll has two children, Bailee Ann and Noah Buddy, from previous relationships, and Bunnie has often spoken about her role as their stepmother. In recent months, the couple had also discussed their hopes of expanding their family.
So far, neither Jelly Roll nor Bunnie XO has addressed the divorce filing publicly on social media. Still, fans have already taken to Reddit and X to share their shock.
“I am so shook, I genuinely thought they were completely rock solid,” one fan wrote.
Another commented: “They’ve been through absolute hell and back together, sad to see it end like this but glad it sounds mutual.”
While a third added: “They always said their relationship wasn’t perfect, but man, this one genuinely hurts to read.”
