Bunnie Xo is urging fans not to jump to conclusions after Jelly Roll filed for divorce from her in May, with the podcaster making clear that she is not going to publicly discuss his personal life.
The split, which was filed in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18, 2026, came after nearly 10 years of marriage. Court documents listed the couple’s date of separation as May 9 and cited irreconcilable differences.
Any expectations that the end of the relationship would turn into a public feud appear to be misplaced, as Bunnie has made it clear she wants to keep things respectful.
Speaking on her Dumb Blonde podcast in the days after the filing became public, the 46-year-old shared fresh details about how she and the country singer are adjusting to life apart, but she did not confirm that he is dating again.
Even so, she did not speak with resentment, instead making a point of shielding him from criticism online.
“I’m not going to say anything about J’s actions,”
Bunnie told listeners.
“Because I don’t feel like it’s the right time and I don’t feel like it’s my place.”

Her comments underline how committed both of them appear to be to preserving their friendship, particularly as they had previously discussed continuing with plans to have a child through surrogacy.
Bunnie also stressed that there is no hostility between them and said the breakup was not caused by infidelity.
“Nobody cheated on the other person,”
she said.
“I believe our future is so much more important, and being happy and healthy and best friends through this is probably the biggest gift that we could have given each other.”
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, has not publicly addressed any dating rumors in a formal statement, but fans noticed one social media change that suggested a new chapter was underway.
Observers saw that he recently wiped his Instagram bio, removing Bunnie’s handle and replacing it with just two words.
“Music Man.”
As the former couple works through a very public end to their decade-long relationship, Bunnie urged people to respond with compassion.
“I love him,”
she said.
“We served our purpose for each other… and we’re continuing the love.”

Over the years, they were open about the fact that their marriage was far from flawless. Both regularly pushed back against being described as an idealized celebrity couple, acknowledging that their relationship had gone through serious difficulties.
The two also spent time apart in 2018, and Bunnie later reflected on that period during Dumb Blonde, saying their foundation had to fall apart before they could rebuild it in a stronger way.
Jelly Roll has likewise spoken candidly in the past about his own mistakes, previously referring to his infidelity as
“one of the worst moments of my adulthood.’
Despite those struggles, they had seemed especially united in recent years.
In August 2023, they returned to the same Las Vegas chapel where they originally got married to renew their vows, and they were still appearing together publicly as recently as the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Now, however, the couple is moving forward with divorce proceedings after nearly 10 years together.
