Liam Payne’s Huge Fortune for Son Bear Revealed in Court Documents After His Tragic Death at 31

Details of Liam Payne’s estate have emerged, with court documents showing that his son is set to inherit his fortune as the investigation into the singer’s death continues.

Payne, the former One Direction member, died in October 2024 at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

He had reportedly faced struggles with substance misuse and mental health in the years leading up to his death. At the time, he had travelled to Argentina to attend former bandmate Niall Horan’s tour.

A preliminary coroner’s report said the cause of death was “polytrauma”, meaning he suffered multiple severe injuries in the fall from his third-floor balcony room.

In May 2026, the Buckinghamshire coroner dealing with the UK inquest said he was still awaiting developments from the investigation in Argentina before the full hearing could move forward.

As the case has progressed, it has now been disclosed that Payne’s son, Bear, is the only beneficiary of his estate.

High Court probate papers reportedly show that Bear will inherit £24.3 million ($32.2m), with the documents naming him as the only person set to “benefit” from the estate.

Bear is Payne’s only child with Cheryl Tweedy, the former Girls Aloud singer. The pair first met when Payne auditioned for the UK talent show at 14, and they later began a relationship in 2016 before separating two years later.

According to the same reports, Cheryl and music lawyer Richard Bray have been appointed administrators of the estate. Their role allows them to gather and protect Payne’s assets until Bear is able to access them, largely when he turns 18.

However, the recently issued Letters of Administration may allow parts of the estate to be used sooner.

The estate is said to include Payne’s five-bedroom home in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire.

That property is separate from the Miami rental he shared with girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who has previously rejected claims that she was with Payne because of his money.

Speaking on Jay Shetty’s podcast On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Cassidy opened up about the final face-to-face conversation she had with him, describing it as both “chilling” and “beautiful”.

“On the last day in Argentina my car was in the driveway and we went back into the guest house grabbed my suitcase and we were sitting on the couch and I just kept going on, and on, and on about how much I love him and how much he means to me, and how much I’m going to miss him and that I can’t wait for him to already be back in Florida,” she shared.

“Because we were starting this new chapter of our life – we just bought a new house, we just got a dog, we just moved to America as well. I mean I was living in England with him for two years, we just moved to my country – it was just all these new beginnings and it was in just such a positive light.

“So I remember sitting there with him and I was going on, and on, and on, and saying to Liam how much I love him.”
