Cara Delevingne Finally Confirms Amber Heard Romance After Johnny Depp Divorce

Cara Delevingne has spoken about her past relationship with Amber Heard, saying the two became involved after Heard’s split from Johnny Depp.

The 33-year-old model and actor discussed the romance during an appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast, which was released on June 29, 2026. In the episode, Delevingne also reflected on sobriety, engagement rumours, her friendship with Karl Lagerfeld and the first time she understood her sexuality. The conversation came years after she and Heard were first linked publicly and after Heard’s high-profile legal battles with Depp.

Delevingne and Heard had previously worked together on London Fields, a project made before the widely watched Depp-Heard defamation case. When Theroux referenced the situation involving Depp, Delevingne replied: “Am I meant to comment?”

She then went on to explain how her connection with Heard developed, saying: “It’s because we did a movie together, and it was called London Fields. He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose.”

Pressed further on the nature of the relationship, Delevingne said: “We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled. But she was also entangled with other people.”

Theroux then brought up Elon Musk, and Delevingne responded: “Well, with Elon, there you go,”

Heard and Musk were linked romantically after her 2016 separation from Depp. Their relationship later ended in early 2018. Heard and Depp had married in 2015 and divorced in 2017.

Following the 2022 defamation trial in Virginia, a jury found that Depp and Heard had each defamed the other through statements tied to their breakup and abuse allegations. Heard later returned to the screen in 2023’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, but has otherwise kept a relatively low profile compared with the peak of the courtroom coverage.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Delevingne reflected on realizing she was gay when she was 11.

She said: “Well, now I look back on it, it was super evident really young. I knew at, like, 11 years old.

“I had this one friend that I was like, ‘Oh, I think I care about her more than she likes me, and I don’t know how, but I do.’ It was obvious now, but then it really wasn’t, and I’m very proud of it now.”

She also said: “I think when I started talking about it and being open about it, I felt like there was a lot to fight for still at that point in terms of shows about gay people and people to look up to for younger kids.”

Representatives for Johnny Depp have been contacted for comment.
