Linsey Devey shared a moving hero-walk video after Jordan Devey’s death by suicide.
Jordan Devey, 38, died Tuesday in Boise, Idaho, and Linsey Devey shared the post Sunday as the family prepared to honor him at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center.
The video showed family, friends and hospital workers gathered in the hall before his organs were donated.
“really hard, and really beautiful all at once,” Linsey said of the hero walk video.
The post said hundreds crowded the hallway for his final act of service.
“Hundreds of heartbroken people packed the halls at St. Alphonsus in Boise to honor his life and his last heroic act of love and service,”
Linsey said the family now understood how quietly he had been struggling.
“Imagine being this fiercely loved by so many people?” the post asked.
Leslie Devey said the family saw the honor walk as a last tribute.
“It’s called the honor walk,” Leslie said. “When someone has made the choice to be an organ donor, it is a way to honor that choice,”
She added that the family did not know he had registered.
“We had no idea he had signed up to be an organ donor,” Leslie said. “Linsey didn’t and I didn’t, either.”
Jordan’s parents also raised concerns about CTE.
“We believe that he possibly suffered from CTE,” Leslie said.
Kerry Devey called the loss overwhelming and full of questions.
“You think you’re strong until something like this happens…and it brings you to your knees,” Kerry said.
The fundraiser for Linsey and the four children said medical bills and daily costs were mounting.
“Tragically, Jordan took his own life, leaving his family to navigate an incredibly difficult and heartbreaking time,” the fundraiser said.
In the viral moment, Linsey first announced Jordan’s death on Instagram.
“Today would have been our 15th year anniversary. We brought 4 beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles and compassion,” she wrote.
“You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence,” she wrote. “We’ll talk soon” ❤️.
The family said they would say their final goodbyes Sunday in Boise.
