Donald Trump took a swipe at Joe Biden just seconds after stepping in to help a toddler on stage.
While appearing at the Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa, the President invited a family up to discuss Trump Accounts for children and to share how his no tax on tips policy had helped them.
Sandra, a Las Vegas casino waitress, appeared on stage alongside her husband Brad, a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer, and their two young children. Trump explained to the crowd that the couple had benefited from his administration’s tax policies and were investing in Trump Accounts for their two children.
As Sandra began speaking, her young son suddenly tried to dart away from the stage and steal the spotlight.
Trump quickly reacted and moved after the child, stopping what could have become an awkward moment. The toddler paused on his own, prompting laughter from people in the audience.
“I don’t want him to be Biden and fall off the stage!” Trump shouted.
After that, the child made his way back to his father while Sandra thanked Trump.
The remark appeared to reference Biden’s fall during the 2023 US Air Force Academy graduation ceremony. On June 1, 2023, Biden tripped over a black sandbag on stage after handing out diplomas to graduates. Biden, who was 80 at the time and the oldest serving US president, was helped back up and did not seem to be injured.
“I got sandbagged!”
White House communications director Ben LaBolt later addressed the incident on X, formerly Twitter.
“There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands,” confirming that he was ‘fine’.
Near the end of Sandra’s remarks, and only minutes after Trump had chased after the toddler, she told the President that her son wanted to say something.
“Thank you for my Trump Account,” the toddler announced into the microphone.
“Good job,” the President responded.
