Nicole Kidman shared dreamy vacation photos from Iceland that put her natural curls front and center.
The Oscar winner, 59, posted a carousel of images on Instagram Tuesday, August 18, documenting her yacht excursion with the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection alongside her sister Antonia Kidman and daughters Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15. “Beautiful country, trip of a life time,” Kidman captioned the post, adding thanks to the luxury cruise line “for being so kind to my family and guests” and signing off with “We love you Iceland!! 🇮🇸”
In the first image, Kidman leaned against the railing of the oversized vessel wearing a cozy charcoal sweater and relaxed blue jeans, her strawberry-blonde curls tumbling past her shoulders. A second shot captured her out on the rugged Icelandic terrain in the same knitwear paired with black leggings, her hair whipping in the wind. She also shared a tender moment hugging sister Antonia while bundled in a black Moncler parka and boots, and posted a hot tub snap showing her in a blue ruffled bikini with her curls swept up in a casual bun.
The comment section erupted with fans celebrating her return to her signature texture. “Curls are the best. Reminds me of your early movies,” one follower wrote. Another commented, “Beautiful hair curly – so natural and sexy and young💖✨✨✨✨.” A third enthused, “CURLS?! Looooove to see it.” Even Troye Sivan, her costar from 2018’s “Boy Erased,” dropped a string of blue heart emojis beneath the post.
Kidman’s natural ringlets became iconic during her 1990s breakthrough in films like “Days of Thunder” and “Far and Away,” though she increasingly straightened her hair for red carpets, magazine covers and onscreen roles in later years. She has spoken openly about her complicated relationship with her texture, telling Allure in a past interview: “That is my natural hair. Isn’t that crazy? So for all the little girls out there, embrace the curl. Do not follow in my steps and straighten your hair.”
The Iceland trip marks another chapter in what outlets have described as Kidman’s increasing embrace of her natural texture during off-duty moments. Earlier this year she was spotted with ringlets at Sydney airport, and over the summer she let her curls run free on a horse farm. Her daughters have apparently encouraged the shift — Faith Margaret shares her mother’s tight curl pattern, and the two have sported matching textures in previous family photos.
The vacation comes amid significant personal transitions for the “Practical Magic” star. Kidman and country singer Keith Urban, 58, separated in September 2025 after 19 years of marriage and finalized their divorce in January 2026. She shares Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret with Urban, and is also mother to daughter Bella, 33, and son Connor, 31, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
Just last week, Kidman told Extra she was “embracing love, staying open, keeping the heart open and the possibilities” at this stage in her life. She has been seen out with rumored new man Michael Reinstein in recent months. The actress is also entering a busy professional period, with “Practical Magic 2” — her reunion with Sandra Bullock — hitting theaters on Sept. 10.
