Adam Scott Reveals What Surprised Him Most About Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding

Adam Scott has revealed what surprised him most about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding.

The “Severance” actor, 52, appeared on NBC’s “Today” show on August 24 to discuss the ceremony, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York. Scott, who starred in “Parks and Recreation,” was among roughly 1,000 guests who witnessed the superstar couple exchange vows.

Scott told co-host Craig Melvin that despite the massive scale and intense public anticipation, the wedding felt remarkably authentic. “You know what, I think the thing we walked away with, the impression we had more than anything, was that it was a real wedding,” he said. “You had the sense that these are just people who love each other.”

He continued: “It was kind of on a grand scale — there were more people than were at my wedding — but at its core, it just felt like a regular wedding with two people coming together.”

The emotional atmosphere also left a mark on the actor. “Everyone teared up. It was a really lovely, lovely event,” he said.

Melvin pressed Scott on whether attending earned him “some serious dad points,” given that his daughter is a devoted Swift fan. “Sure did,” Scott replied, “except I didn’t bring her. So I lost some points at the same time.”

Though she missed the event itself, Scott’s daughter eagerly awaited his return. “She stayed up and waited for us to come home that night to get all the details,” he said.

In the viral moment that preceded these guest reactions, Kelce had already spoken about the wedding’s significance. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, addressed reporters at a training camp press conference on August 12, calling it “the best night of my life,” He added: “It was a fun offseason, man, wedding was the best night of my life and I appreciate everyone who came out and celebrated and had fun with us.”

The ceremony featured comedian Adam Sandler as officiant. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed that Swift covered police overtime costs associated with the event. Billboards outside the 22,000-capacity venue displayed “JUST&T MARRIED” for passersby.

Other notable attendees included Hugh Grant, Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt, Ed Sheeran, Cindy Crawford, Emma Stone, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Zoë Kravitz, Dakota Johnson, Ethan Hawke, Jessica Alba, Karlie Kloss, and Bradley Cooper.

Kelce and the Chiefs open their NFL season on September 4 against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
