Michael Strahan has secretly become a father again.
The “Good Morning America” host, 54, welcomed a baby girl with girlfriend Kayla Quick, 36, earlier this year, according to a Thursday report. The couple has largely shielded their nearly decade-long romance from public view, making the news of their expanding family a surprise to fans who have rarely seen them together.
Strahan is already father to five children from previous relationships: daughter Tanita, 34, son Michael Jr., 31, and 21-year-old twin daughters Isabella and Sophia. He shares Tanita and Michael Jr. With first ex-wife Wanda Hutchins, and the twins with second ex-wife Jean Muggli. The new baby marks his fifth child and his first with Quick.
The former New York Giants defensive end and Quick were first linked romantically in May 2015, just months after he ended his five-year engagement to Nicole Murphy. Their relationship has remained notably low-profile ever since, with only occasional public sightings over the years.
In 2016, the pair were photographed together backstage at the Broadway musical “Kinky Boots” and during a vacation in St. Barts. They were seen dining on New York City’s Upper East Side in 2018. Quick made a rare formal appearance with Strahan in January 2023 when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
During an October 2015 episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Strahan confirmed to host Andy Cohen that he was in a committed relationship without naming Quick specifically.
“I am in a serious relationship,” he said. “You want me to give you a full name? None of your business.”
Strahan elaborated on his preference for privacy during the same interview, drawing from past experience in the spotlight.
“One thing I learned? The whole public relationship thing doesn’t work. I prefer to do my thing and live my life away from that. It puts too much pressure on it,” he explained.
Quick’s past includes legal troubles from her teenage and young adult years in Florida. At 14, she was arrested for disorderly conduct in her hometown of Port Charlotte, according to records cited by RadarOnline. In May 2005, she was arrested for grand theft after allegedly breaking into her grandmother’s house with her then-boyfriend and stealing $6,000 worth of jewelry, per a Charlotte County sheriff’s arrest report.
Strahan himself has spoken openly about the challenges of balancing his demanding career with family life. The “Fox NFL Sunday” analyst typically splits his time between New York and Los Angeles for his various broadcasting commitments, including his daily role on ABC’s flagship morning program.
In the viral moment that sparked broader attention, Strahan’s representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment when the news broke Thursday, maintaining the couple’s pattern of silence on personal matters. The birth itself reportedly took place “earlier this year,” though the exact date and circumstances remain undisclosed, consistent with the pair’s careful management of their private life.
