Sharon Stone has opened up about the supernatural visions she kept hidden for more than two decades following her near-fatal stroke.
The 68-year-old actress, who suffered the medical emergency in 2001, revealed the full account during an upcoming episode of Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown. Stone told host Mayim Bialik that the experience began shortly after she returned home from the hospital, when her sleep cycle had been completely disrupted.
“When I was first home from the hospital, I couldn’t sleep at night and I was sleeping in the day,” Stone said on the podcast. “When I was laying on the couch, sleeping and awake, these orbs sort of presented themselves to me. These five orbs presented themselves to me and they sort of talked to me, but in a digital language.”
The Casino star explained that the glowing entities delivered an unsettling warning about her future. At the time, her eldest son Roan was just one year old, having been adopted in 2000 with her then-husband, newspaper editor Phil Bronstein. Stone said she found herself negotiating with the orbs over her own survival and her son’s protection.
“I just kept saying to them, ‘I don’t know if I’m supposed to stay here or if I’m supposed to die,'” she recalled. “And they said, ‘You’re supposed to stay.’ And I said, ‘I can only stay if two of you will stay with my son. Because I don’t want him to be alone, and I think he’s gonna get taken from me.'”
The premonition Stone described proved devastatingly accurate. Following her 2004 divorce from Bronstein, she lost primary custody of Roan in a highly publicized legal battle. Stone has previously stated that the court’s decision was influenced by Hollywood prejudice against her provocative film roles, including her iconic performance in Basic Instinct.
“Sure enough, he was taken from me,” Stone said of the custody outcome. “And I said, ‘We have to have an agreement. The two of you will stay with him and protect him.’ And they agreed. And they said, ‘But your destiny requires that we stay with you.'”
Despite the painful separation, Stone and Roan, now 26, eventually rebuilt a strong relationship. The actress went on to adopt two more sons on her own: Laird, 21, and Quinn, 20.
Stone emphasized that the strange encounter left her feeling surprisingly calm rather than frightened. “I was curious,” she explained, “but very much at peace.”
The Oscar-nominated actress kept the vision private for years, she told Bialik, because it was so difficult to put into words.
Stone’s 2001 stroke and its aftermath have become a defining chapter in her life story. The medical emergency required extensive recovery and left her navigating profound physical and personal challenges at a time when her career was at its height.
