Selena Gomez has reignited speculation about motherhood with a fresh social media hint.
The “Only Murders in the Building” star, 34, posted a photo of herself holding a newborn baby to her Instagram Stories on Monday alongside a message about her hopes of “one day” becoming a mom. The brief post offered no further details but landed weeks after she married record producer Benny Blanco, 38, in an intimate ceremony.
Gomez has been open about her family aspirations before. In October 2025, she shared a clip from the Season 2 finale of “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” the Disney Channel sequel to her breakout series. The scene showed her character, Alex Russo, embracing Billie, revealed to be Alex’s daughter.
“Alex Russo is a mommy. Hopefully one day that’ll be me,” Gomez wrote in the post.
That earlier hint came roughly a year after Gomez disclosed a deeply personal medical reality. In September 2024, she revealed that she is unable to carry her own children, explaining that conditions related to her lupus diagnosis could endanger both her life and a potential baby’s.
The “Emilia Pérez” actress was diagnosed with lupus in 2013 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017. She described the inability to carry a pregnancy as “something I had to grieve for a while,” though she emphasized that surrogacy and adoption remain possibilities.
“At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,” Gomez said at the time.
Shortly after that disclosure, Gomez delivered a defiant message at a Women in Film event. She fired back at anyone casting her as a victim over her health struggles.
“Telling people when you need help or when you want help, that is not shameful,” she said. “So, yeah, I shared that I can’t carry a child. … That’s what my life is. That’s who I am.”
She added a blunt dismissal for critics: “F–k off.”
Gomez and Blanco exchanged vows in September 2025 at Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California. The wedding was notably shielded from public view, with Gomez controlling the narrative by releasing her own grainy, garden-inspired photos rather than allowing outside access.
“I didn’t want anyone to get photos of my wedding unless it was from me, and I keep my life as private as I can,” she explained during an appearance on the “Jennifer Hudson Show” in the month after their ceremony.

He has also emphasized the grounding presence of their inner circle. “We’re lucky because we both have friends and family we’ve known since before all this, and we’re surrounded by a good group of people we love,” Blanco shared.
