Jennifer Eckhart, a former Fox Business associate producer and podcast host, was found dead Friday at her Florida home, authorities confirmed.
Eckhart, 36, appeared to have died by suicide, Martin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Christine Christofek said in a statement. The office did not provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Eckhart had built a second career around stories of personal reinvention. She hosted “REINVENTED,” a podcast featuring prominent figures in business, sports and entertainment who had overcome adversity on their path to success, according to the description on her website. Guests discussed setbacks, obstacles and efforts to rebuild their lives and careers.
The most recent episode was posted in March and featured former Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg.
Before launching her podcast, Eckhart worked as an associate producer at Fox Business. Her time at the network became entangled in one of the most publicized misconduct cases in cable news.
In 2020, Eckhart accused journalist Ed Henry of sexual assault. Fox News fired Henry that year following an investigation into a complaint involving alleged sexual misconduct.
Eckhart’s final months also included a legal matter of her own. She was arrested in Palm Beach County, Fla., in July of last year on suspicion of battery after allegedly attacking her boyfriend when he tried to end their relationship, according to an arrest affidavit cited by the outlet.
The affidavit said video of the alleged altercation showed Eckhart yelling at Thomas Beasley, striking him, grabbing and ripping his shirt and demanding that he delete the recording.
She was released on her own recognizance without having to post bail.
Eckhart’s podcast centered on transformation narratives, making her own public trajectory all the more striking. From network television production to independent media creation, from accuser in a high-profile case to defendant in a domestic dispute, her path defied the clean redemption arcs she typically explored with guests.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office has not released further information about the investigation into her death.
