Gabe Poirot has revealed the four-word phrase he heard repeated throughout the afterlife during his 18-day coma.
Poirot, who was 20 at the time of his 2014 skateboarding accident, cracked his skull open after falling off his board at roughly 30mph without a helmet. The injuries were severe enough to leave him unconscious for more than two weeks, during which he says he encountered Jesus Christ and witnessed the landscape of heaven itself.
Speaking on The Lila Rose podcast earlier this year, Poirot offered a physical description of the figure he met. He said Jesus stood between 5ft 11 and 6ft tall, had darker-toned skin, was 33 years old, and wore slightly curly hair.
The Colorado man expanded on his experience during a March interview with Kayleigh McEnany on Fox News, where he detailed the moment he separated from his own body.
“It was pretty wild because I was above my own body,” he shared. “I looked at it and said ‘wow, that’s me but that’s not me because I am fully alive now.’ It was just my body. Like, that was it.”
Poirot then described being pulled upward into a realm he understood not as geography but as relationship. “Then I was suctioned up, not just to a place, the heaven I was headed for isn’t just a destination. Heaven is a person.”
What struck him most during the coma was the omnipresence of Jesus in the environment itself. “The mountains and the trees,” he explained of where he saw Jesus. “As the wind hits the leaves, they’ll blow back and forth and they have a note to them. They’ll sing ‘worthy is the lamb’.”
He added that this call and response permeated every element of the world he inhabited: “And then the waves and the rivers of the waters of life will receive that same note and they’ll sing back, ‘worthy is the lamb’.”
The phrase “worthy is the lamb” became the constant refrain of his experience, echoing through every aspect of the afterlife he described.
Before Poirot returned to consciousness, a close family friend named Ginger prayed over his unresponsive body in what would become a pivotal moment in his account. Recalling that prayer for the Christian Broadcasting Network, Ginger said: “I looked at him and I said, Gabe, you know my voice. You know, when I pray, I know you can hear me.”
She continued pressing him to return: “I know you’re unconscious, but I know that you know I’m here. I’m going to pray that you wake up. You’ve got to wake up. You cannot stay in this coma.”
Poirot maintains that Ginger’s prayers created the pathway for his return. “I literally saw these bridges that were being formed,” he insisted. “And sure enough, the bridges gathered. And then Jesus united himself with them, and they got bigger. And bigger and bigger.”
He elaborated on how these prayers functioned as his route home: “And as everyone was on the Earth, I saw the prayers of those like Ginger. I saw her praying over my body. I saw my parents and my family and my friends and, I saw those prayers go right into the heart of Christ – it was those prayers that I was actually sent back on.”
According to Poirot, Jesus sent him back with two specific instructions: to tell people who he really is, and to tell his family that he was coming back soon.
The accident that precipitated this entire experience occurred when Poirot was skateboarding at high speed without protective gear, resulting in the traumatic head injury that left him in a coma for 18 days. What medical personnel treated as a life-threatening emergency, Poirot experienced as a prolonged spiritual encounter that he has since spent years publicly discussing across conservative and Christian media outlets.
