Nidhi Tiwari, 30, was found dead in her Singrauli home Sunday after sharing a final message about self-love on social media.
The former Miss Pretty India winner, who had built an online following of 1.6 million, was pronounced dead at a hospital after family members discovered her unresponsive in her room, according to Indian outlet Hari Bhoomi. Authorities are investigating her death as a suicide.
Just hours before she died, Tiwari had argued with a Punjab-based engineer she had met while working at a hotel and had been in contact with for two-and-a-half years. Following the dispute, she locked herself in her room and refused to eat despite her family’s pleas.
During that period of isolation, she posted a message to her social media accounts that has since drawn an outpouring of tributes. “No one has fulfilled this incomplete heart,” she wrote. “I have [fulfilled] it with myself. [This] is why you should love yourself,” She shared the words alongside a photograph in which she made a heart symbol with her hands.
Investigators are examining both that post and a note found inside the home, local media reported. Police have not disclosed what role the phone call with the engineer may have played in her death.
Tiwari had won the Miss Pretty India pageant title in 2024 and used her platforms primarily for dance reels. She had expressed aspirations of becoming an actor and model. One of her final posts was a dance video set to the Hindi song “Nadi Biche Naiya Dole,” which uses the metaphor of a boat drifting on a river to describe a lover.
Her content had centered on performance and personal branding, with the self-love post representing a stark departure in tone from her usual output. The contrast between the aspirational imagery of pageant culture and the finality of her message has fueled the wave of online response.
The investigation into the circumstances of her death remains ongoing.
