2-Year-Old Boy Plunges From NYC Building Days After Alleged Shove Killed Bronx Mom and Injured Baby

A 2-year-old boy survived a fall from a third-story Queens building Thursday afternoon with only minor injuries, according to police.

The toddler, who has not been publicly identified, landed on the ground outside 102-10 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills shortly before 2:30 p.m. After the plunge, the NYPD said. Officers responding to a 911 call discovered him bleeding from his face but conscious.

“All the injuries appear to be minor at this time, pending hospital X-rays, etc.,” a police source told The Post. “No criminality is suspected, appears he simply fell.”

The boy was transported to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition Thursday.

WABC Eyewitness News reported that the apartment lacked window guards, a potential violation of city safety regulations, and that police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.

The incident has drawn attention in part because of its timing, coming just two days after a far deadlier plunge in the Bronx that killed a young mother and left her infant daughter fighting for her life.

That Tuesday morning tragedy claimed the life of Nathaly Ramirez, 23, who died after she and her 8-month-old daughter, Angel Novalty Carrasco-Ramirez, were allegedly pushed from a 15th-floor balcony by Ramirez’s boyfriend. The baby survived the fall and was listed in stable condition at Jacobi Hospital.

The man accused in that attack, Angel Carrasco, 31, was arrested by U.S. Marshals and is facing murder and attempted murder charges. The two cases are not connected, but their proximity in time has heightened concern about child safety in high-rise buildings across New York City.

Window guards are required by law in many New York City apartments where children under 10 reside, and the absence of such protections in the Queens apartment where Thursday’s fall occurred could become a focus of the ongoing police inquiry.

The Forest Hills building sits along Queens Boulevard, a major thoroughfare in a residential neighborhood where families with young children are common.

Authorities have not released the name of the Queens toddler’s parents or specified which floor apartment he fell from, beyond confirming it was a third-story unit.
