Collin Gosselin has accused his estranged mother, Kate Gosselin, of financially manipulating his sister Hannah during an appearance on ABC’s “The View.”
The 19-year-old, who is one of the sextuplets from the former TLC reality series “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” made the claims Thursday morning while responding to recent statements Hannah had made about their fractured family dynamics. Collin told the daytime talk show’s co-hosts that he believes Hannah is “caught in the middle” of the ongoing feud and that their mother is leveraging either money or Hannah’s relationships with their other siblings against her.

“Not only is she caught in the middle, but I do believe my mom is either leveraging finances or Hannah’s relationship with our siblings over Hannah,” Collin said on the program.

He expanded on his theory about Hannah’s motivations, suggesting she is attempting “pre-damage control” ahead of an upcoming Netflix documentary about the family that has already been largely filmed. “Hannah opened up about a lot of truths, not only to things that my mom did to me, and corroborated those things, but she opened up about things that she experienced at the hands of my mother,” Collin alleged. “So now, I believe that she is trying to do pre-damage control, unfortunately, because my mom has placed that guilt on her.”

Collin directly addressed Hannah’s recent claims that she has not lived with their father, Jon Gosselin, and has not spoken to Collin in nearly a year, though she maintains a relationship with Kate and their other siblings. “Families are complicated. I’ve seen Hannah many times in the past year. Me, myself, my father at my house. I have pictures if you want to see them,” he fired back. “All family are very complicated, and that statement sounded like a lot of the words of my mother, especially the last part.”
The teenager placed blame squarely on Kate for the sibling estrangement. “It’s not her fault, but I do put the blame on my mother, because she’s leveraging that over Hannah,” he continued. “Nobody deserves that, I know what it feels like, you have to fight to have a relationship with your siblings. I don’t have one with my siblings, and I know how much that hurts.”

Collin also reflected on his own complicated emotions toward his mother, despite the abuse allegations he has publicly leveled against her. “Even to this day, I see her, and I’m like, ‘Why do I feel bad for my mom?’ I shouldn’t feel bad for somebody who has done these things, but it’s called having a heart,” he shared with the co-hosts. He noted that throughout his childhood, he had fought for the same approval from Kate that he believes Hannah is now seeking.

The appearance marked the latest escalation in a family conflict that has played out across multiple platforms. Kate, 49, has previously denied Collin’s claims of abuse, which he detailed in his memoir “In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.” On October 13, she responded to a TikTok comment calling the book “terrible lies” by writing, “Rational logical [people] or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what’s going on here.” She also “liked” a comment predicting Collin would “regret all of this someday” and alleging he was “encouraged and enabled by other dysfunctional and mentally ill people,” to which she replied, “Exactly! I had nothing to do with it, except for consent because it was medically necessary.”

The institutionalization has become a central point of contention. Collin has claimed Kate kept him locked in a “small holding cell” for two years starting in 2016, and that TLC camera crews and his siblings were prohibited from visiting him. Kate defended her decision in 2023, stating she acted “following years of outpatient treatment which proved insufficient for his needs” and “for the safety of myself, his brothers and sisters, and for his own well-being.” Jon Gosselin filed for and won full custody of Collin two years after the institutionalization began, and also gained custody of Hannah, while the remaining sextuplets — Alexis, Joel, Leah and Aaden — and older twin sisters Mady and Cara remained with Kate.

The family first entered the public eye in 2007 when “Jon & Kate Plus 8” premiered on TLC, chronicling the lives of the Gosselins and their eight children — twins and sextuplets. The show became a ratings phenomenon but also drew intense scrutiny of the family’s dynamics. Jon and Kate’s marriage dissolved publicly, with their divorce finalized in 2009 and the series continuing in retooled form as “Kate Plus 8” before eventually ending. The children’s upbringing remained under media examination for years, with custody arrangements shifting and various family members occasionally speaking out about the pressures of growing up on television.

Kate has not responded to requests for comment regarding Collin’s latest accusations on “The View.”
