Kris Jenner erupted on camera after learning her decades-old affair is featured in a new biography of Kim Kardashian, according to the book’s author.
Jonathan Van Meter, who wrote “Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future,” said in a new interview that Kardashian, 44, called him “late at night” a few months ago to relay the drama. The Skims founder had been visiting her younger sister Khloé Kardashian, 40, when she learned their mother had “flipped out on camera while they were filming the show,” Van Meter recounted.

Kim told him Kris was yelling, “Why did Kim drag us all into this? Why is my affair from 30 years ago in the book?”
Van Meter claimed that “two days later,” the matriarch “was fine.” But he added, “It’s going to be on the show,” referencing the family’s Hulu series “The Kardashians,” now in its eighth season.
The author said Kim confronted Kris directly, telling her, “All this stuff gets written about us, and then a guy comes along who gets us and wants to explain us. Why wouldn’t you want that?”
Van Meter noted, “That’s the closest I got to an answer about why she did the book,” referencing the reality star’s participation in the biography.
While Van Meter does not name the affair partner in the book, Kris previously disclosed her extramarital relationship with Todd Waterman during her marriage to the late Robert Kardashian. The relationship took place in 1989, toward the end of her marriage to the O.J. Simpson defense attorney.
Kris, now 70, has spoken openly about the infidelity and her lasting remorse. During a 2023 episode of “The Kardashians,” Khloé asked her mother why she had cheated on their father.
“I think that I fell into a situation where I thought that the grass was greener somewhere else,” Kris said during the filmed conversation.
“And I made a huge mistake,” she continued. “That’s like my life’s biggest regret.”

Robert Kardashian Sr. Died in September 2003 at the age of 59 after a brief battle with esophageal cancer. He and Kris were married from 1978 to 1991 and shared four children: Kim, Khloé, Kourtney Kardashian, 46, and Rob Kardashian Jr., 38.
Following her divorce from Robert, Kris married former Olympian Bruce Jenner in 1991. The couple separated in 2013, and Bruce publicly came out as transgender in 2015, now known as Caitlyn Jenner. During their marriage, they welcomed daughters Kendall Jenner, 30, and Kylie Jenner, 29.

The biography, “Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future,” is slated for release on Oct. 27. Van Meter, who has spent extensive time with the reality-famous clan, conducted interviews with Kim for the project.
A rep for Kim and Kris did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Friday.

“Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future” hits shelves Oct. 27.
