TV Show Host Kicks Drone Into Model’s Face and Blames Mishap on His Shoes

Ernesto Chavana has issued a second on-camera apology after kicking a drone into a model’s face during a live broadcast.

The “Es Show” host, whose Monday night stunt left stage regular Isabella “La Colombiana” Rojas bloodied, posted a video statement Tuesday through POSTA on X to reaffirm he would not duck responsibility. Chavana had already apologized during the original broadcast, but returned to address the incident again amid mounting backlash over his initial attempt to deflect blame onto production staff and even his footwear.

“I am not hiding,” Chavana said in the follow-up video. “I am aware of the mistake I made yesterday by kicking a drone during a situation that came up on the program.”

The host continued: “I offered apologies to Isabella on air and I took full responsibility for the event.”

Chavana’s second mea culsa came after viewers widely circulated footage showing him first blaming others in the immediate aftermath. As crew members rushed to aid Rojas and audience members gasped, Chavana was heard telling staff, “see what you have done,” according to the broadcast. He then pivoted to an on-air apology that included the unusual explanation about his shoes.

“I’m very sorry. I am responsible for what just happened,” Chavana said during Monday’s show.

“I feel very ashamed and embarrassed for what I have just done,” he continued.

“I kicked this thing they put in front of me… I don’t know, maybe it was my new shoes.”

Rojas, a content creator who transitioned into a prominent on-air role with the Monterrey-based program, was struck in the face when Chavana punted the production drone directly toward her. The impact left her with a bloodied mouth, and crew members tended to her backstage following the incident.

The production team for Canal 6, the network that carries “Es Show,” has committed to covering Rojas’ medical expenses and other damages, according to Mexican outlet Cronica. The late-night Spanish-language variety show blends comedy sketches, games, dancing, music and celebrity guests from its base in northern Mexico.

Chavana’s Tuesday statement sought to project accountability after his Monday behavior drew criticism for its contradictory tone. “Here I am to face up to it,” he said in the POSTA-shared video, presenting himself as available for scrutiny rather than retreating from public view.

The incident occurred during a live Monday broadcast when production staff positioned the drone near Chavana, who responded by kicking it rather than moving aside or allowing crew to reposition the device. The drone’s trajectory carried it straight into Rojas, who had no opportunity to avoid the collision.

Rojas built her following as a content creator before joining “Es Show” as a regular stage personality, making her a recognizable figure to the program’s audience. Her injury and rushed exit from set became the defining moment of the broadcast, overshadowing the planned comedy and variety segments.

The host’s shoe-focused explanation drew particular ridicule online, with viewers questioning how new footwear could excuse deliberately kicking a drone toward a coworker. Chavana’s Tuesday follow-up omitted any mention of his shoes or production staff, instead keeping the focus on his own error.
