Laura Lentz, 48, says Justin Bieber, 32, and Hailey Bieber, 29, gave her family 24 hours to vacate their home after her husband’s affair became public in November 2020.
The Lentz family — Carl, 47, Laura, and their three children, Ava, 22, Charlie, 20, and Roman, 17 — had been living in the pop star’s property while planning a move to Brooklyn, Laura wrote in the couple’s new book “Overcoming Infidelity: 10 Conversations to Help You Heal the Hurt,” published Oct. 20. The Biebers initially encouraged them to “take your time exploring where you might live” and to “use their place as long as needed,” she recalled.

That arrangement collapsed once Carl’s extramarital relationship made headlines. “Somebody on Justin’s team [called] to say we needed to be out of his and Hailey’s apartment in the next 24 hours. We hastily packed our things and loaded them into a rented U-Haul,” Laura wrote.

Carl, who was fired from Manhattan’s Hillsong Church over “moral failures,” described the eviction as a “kick to the ribs” when he was “already down for the count.”

“I deserved to be kicked to the curb, but I felt Laura and the kids were just innocent bystanders suffering once again for my sins,” he wrote in the book.
The scandal destroyed a friendship that stretched back to 2008. Carl had briefly lived with the Lentz family in New Jersey in 2014, an invitation extended because the “Baby” singer needed to escape his celebrity grind. “There was a period where he just needed to get out of dodge, his regular life, and lived with us,” Carl explained in 2017. “We thought maybe it would be cool for a little bit just to check out of the grind that you’re in as one of the biggest stars in the world and just be normal.”

Carl acknowledged in the book that he put Justin “in a precarious place on multiple levels” and that the affair “exploded” their “close” relationship by dragging the Biebers into a “publicity nightmare they never asked for.”

The Biebers unfollowed the Lentz family on social media in 2020. Justin has never spoken publicly about Carl’s marital drama, though he made cryptic comments to GQ in 2021 about church leaders putting themselves “on a pedestal.”

The majority of the Lentzes’ friends “went silent” during the crisis, the couple noted. Tyler Perry, 57, was the exception. The actor “walked straight into [the] fire while the embers were still white hot and offered help,” they wrote. Perry housed the family of five at his Manhattan Beach, California mansion — a different property than the one he later opened to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they left England in 2020. Perry remains close with the Lentzes and praised their “moving” book on social media this week.

Carl and Laura, who are still married, did not name other silent friends in their account. Reps for Justin and Hailey did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
