Chrissy Metz has spoken out about how a GLP-1 medication is supporting her Broadway debut.
The “This Is Us” alum, 45, told ET on the red carpet at the “Nocturne” premiere over the weekend that the weight-loss drug has been “super, super helpful” as she takes on eight shows a week in “& Juliet.” She appeared at the event in a green velvet gown that showed off her transformed figure.

“I think, honestly, being able to run around a stage eight shows a week was like really, really amazing,” she said. The medication has “really minimized” her inflammation, she noted, addressing physical challenges that had complicated her work.
“I’m perimenopausal, I got knee issues, there’s things going on,” Metz continued. “Just the mental capacity to have other things to think about than obsessing about the food noise, that’s been super, super helpful. It’s been great.”

The actress first revealed her GLP-1 use in August, several months after she had already shed 100 pounds through strength training. She gave a “progress report” on her Instagram Story that month, flexing her bicep on camera.
“Look at him,” she said in the video. “You know, I love all my blips and blops and my flips and flops, but she’s making progress on the strength training journey.”
She added, “She’s making progress. We like progress. That’s my progress report.”

In an interview that same month, Metz explained that she came to the medication after years of failed diets and initial skepticism. Her experience, she said, has been “great.”
“It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal,” she told the magazine.

“I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that.”

As early as April, Metz had said she had lost 100 pounds thanks to strength training alone. When asked then whether she would try Ozempic specifically, she was noncommittal.
“It’s something I feel like, it is so personal, and sure, I think it’s important to like destigmatize anything,” she said.
“But I also think it’s people’s personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body.”

“I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves,” she added.
The “Breakthrough” actress has been open about her weight struggles throughout her career, which began gaining widespread attention with her role as Kate Pearson on “This Is Us.” That series, which ran from 2016 to 2022, frequently addressed her character’s own complicated relationship with food and body image.

Metz’s Broadway turn in “& Juliet,” a jukebox musical built around the catalog of songwriter Max Martin, marks a significant expansion of her performing resume beyond screen acting. The demanding physical schedule of live theater eight times weekly has given her a new frame for discussing how the medication functions in her daily life.

Metz continues her run in “& Juliet” on Broadway.
