Halloween is just around the corner — and what better way to celebrate than with a gory yet delicious Red Velvet Brain Cake.

The brainchild (get it?) of baker-extraordinnare Yolanda Gampp, the zombielicious Brain Cake, which oozes raspberry jam, was inspired by The Walking Dead premiere this week.

Yolanda has been baking for 18 years, and her YouTube show “How To Cake It” is a must watch, so make sure you subscribe!

Start by carving your deep red velvet cake into a brain shape.

Next, shower it in simple syrup to keep it moist.

Now comes the fun bit: roll your fondant into ropes, twizzling it into brain tissue.

Cover your Brain Cake in seedless raspberry jam. Make sure it gets into all the nooks and crannies, and if it splatters even better!

And finally, invite your zombie friends over for a brain feast. Mmmmm.

Bonus points if you eat it with your hands — zombies aren’t so good with forks.
