Louisiana resident Hollie Breaux Mallet was recently looking over security camera footage at home when she saw that an intruder had been trespassing in her garage.
The CCTV footage shows a young boy jumping off his bike outside Mallet’s house, running into the garage to play with and cuddle her pet dog Duchess, and then quickly running back out.
Moved by the love of the boy for her pet, Mallet took to Facebook to see if she could identify the boy… and it didn’t take long before she found him.
“Attn Neighbors! Anyone know who this sweet little boy is?” she asks in the video description. “Every now and then when he rides his bike he will quickly come and love on my dog or play fetch real quick, but always leaves quick like he doesn’t know if he should be here! I’d like to tell him he’s welcome to stay and play, she loves the attention!”
The boy’s mother Ginger Clement Breaux recognized her son Josh immediately.
“Ok so…Yes, this is Josh,” she writes. “And I’m torn with my heart melting that he adores dogs so much AND with feeling upset that his little booty shouldn’t be going on someone’s property without permission or without me knowing.”
But it soon transpired that Josh’s own dog had died the previous year, making the secret meetings all the more heartbreaking.
With the mystery solved, Mallet was quick to invite Josh for some more conventional playdates — and of course, he’s taken her up on the offer.
