Amber Heard is now going by a different name after leaving the US and moving to a different country

Amber Heard is seemingly carving out a new chapter in her life in Spain, following her tumultuous legal showdown with former spouse Johnny Depp. The couple, who married in 2015, saw their union dissolve just a year later when Heard filed for divorce. Although they initially presented a united front with a joint statement in 2016, the peace was short-lived, especially after Heard’s 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post about her experiences with sexual violence. While she didn’t name Depp explicitly, he responded with a defamation lawsuit against her.

The legal battle between the two captured global attention. It culminated with a jury siding largely with Depp, although they also found merit in one of the statements in Heard’s countersuit, confirming that she was defamed by one of Depp’s attorneys.

By the end of 2022, the legal entanglements appeared to have been resolved, and Heard took up residence in Spain with her daughter, Oonagh Paige, born via surrogate in April 2021. Heard has kept the identity of her daughter’s father private.

In an intriguing twist, reports emerged that Heard had been using the pseudonym Martha Jane Cannary—the real name of famed American frontierswoman Calamity Jane—in Spain. This revelation was reported by El Diario de Mallorca, which noted the interesting connection to Depp’s claimed Native American heritage.

Currently residing in Madrid, Heard’s primary focus is her daughter. According to a 2022 PEOPLE source, “She is focused on raising her daughter. She spends every day with her girl. They stroll around, visit parks and enjoy family time. Amber is a great mom.” Additionally, Heard surprised many by conducting her first Spanish-language interview, evidencing her fluency and expressing her affection for Spain.

As Heard embarks on this new life abroad, her story continues to unfold, marked by a blend of personal reinvention and public interest.
