Bella Hadid Had ‘Magical’ Dress Spray-Painted Onto Body Mid-Fashion Show

Bella Hadid’s look for the Coperni fashion show at Paris Fashion Week 2022 wasn’t ready until the middle of the show, while audience members watched it being created right before them.

The 25-year-old beauty walked down the runway while three guys encircled her and spray-painted her with white paint in real-time.

The men painted a white coat of latex on her body as she stood still in her lingerie and heels. They constructed a mid-length dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves.

The business is no stranger to DIY fashion, as they gained notice earlier this year for a hand-blown glass purse that stars like Doja Cat were seen carrying on red carpets. Coperni is most likely most known for its Swipe handbag, and like the on-stage clothing, Coperni’s glass purses have an intriguing development process behind them. According to designers Breanna Box and Peter Dupont, the bag is produced using an air hose.

The fashion event was held in the Salle des Textiles of the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris, where Manel Torres, PhD, developer of the spray-on fabric, and other professionals surrounding Hadid brought her vision to reality.

“We wanted to dedicate this moment to Dr. Torres, because we respect what he does so much,” Arnaud Vaillant said. “We felt that it was absolutely necessary that he led the performance – to us, that makes the experience even more magical.”

In May, Hadid spoke about her Met Gala 2022 experience, telling a magazine that while she used to feel pressure at the annual event, she can now “take a lot of pressure off” and enjoy walking the carpet.

“We spend a lot of time — designing the dress and with my glam team — figuring out the creative part before I actually get to the hotel on Met day,” she said. “So by the time it’s Met day, we’re just like living, listening to music, dancing. But 20 minutes beforehand it gets kind of stressful because I’m a Libra, and I’m always late. I try to not be late, but I always am anyway.”

Burberry’s Riccardo Tisci designed her Met Gala dress earlier this year, but it was still very much from Bella’s ideas. According to her, the model gave her a 25-page presentation on what he wanted from her Met suit, and she eventually “tried to limit it to the period from 1895 to 1903.”

“I really liked a lot of the ties and the big fabrics and the tulle and obviously the corsets and the bustiers, but we also wanted to make sure that it stayed very much Riccardo — very simplistic, but chic,” Hadid said.
