Concertgoer Falls to His Death During Goose’s Madison Square Garden Show

A fatal accident took place during a Goose concert at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night (June 20), when a man fell from what authorities described as an “elevated position.”

The 51-year-old concertgoer was taken to Bellevue Hospital following the incident, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police did not specify how far he fell, but shared the following statement with the New York Post:

“At approximately 9:51 p.m. inside Madison Square Garden, officers observed a 51-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive.”

Goose later said they were devastated after hearing about the tragedy, which happened during the second of the group’s two performances at the famed New York venue.

“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show,” they wrote.

“We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”

In the aftermath, multiple rows of seats were emptied as venue staff rushed to help the man.

People attending the show said the fall may have come from either the 200 or 300 level down toward the 100 section.

At Madison Square Garden, the main 100, 200 and 300 seating tiers rise above one another in a steep bowl, with upper sections overlooking the lower seating areas.

One Reddit user who said they saw the incident unfold wrote:

“We saw the entire thing and it actually impacted us physically.

“Was 8 seats away. Heard felt and saw it. MSG gave us wristbands for pit and we dipped.”

Another person posted:

“Someone fell from the upper level into section 102. Horrible scene. Hope for the best but I was sitting two rows behind and it was not good.”

Reports indicate Goose completed their full set before wrapping up the night shortly before midnight.

The Connecticut rock outfit currently consists of Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach, Trevor Weekz and Cotter Ellis. The Madison Square Garden dates were part of a 2026 run that marked the band’s return to the arena after their sold-out headline debut there in 2025.

Formed in 2014, Goose has built its reputation on a mix of rock, indie and funk influences, along with extended improvisational live shows.

Its profile has grown rapidly in recent years, helping establish the group as one of the more prominent modern acts in the jam-rock scene.

As part of their 2026 live schedule, the band had two nights booked at Madison Square Garden on June 19 and June 20.
