These days it’s good to hear a story about a cop with a warm heart. So a picture of a Kansas City police officer comforting two lost dogs on the side of the road has been welcome indeed. The photo touched thousands as it spread like wildfire across the internet.

Many people would not have even given the dogs a second glance. Yet this kindhearted officer pulled his motorcycle over and petted the pooches on the cold, wet grass until the Humane Society arrived.
It turns out that the dogs weren’t homeless and had just lost their way, much to the relief of their owners, who later found their pets in an animal shelter.
The officer declined comment — evidently he believes it’s his duty to protect all Kansas City citizens, even the four-legged ones.
