Two years since the incident, she’s undergone a tremendous 35 surgeries, including one this past November to amputate her left leg.

On Monday, she returned to the 2015 Boston Marathon with her new prosthetic leg to run the last 3.5 miles of the race.

“Two years ago, I was lying on the pavement, fighting for my life. One year ago, I was being pushed in a wheelchair across the finish line when we did the 1K tribute [walk]. And this year, the only thing hitting the pavement will be my running shoes”
