Dakota Johnson, 36, and Role Model, 29, have split after less than a year together, a source said Wednesday.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” actress and the “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” singer, born Tucker Pillsbury, broke up “a while ago,”. The news comes just weeks after Role Model confirmed their romance in interviews and released an album featuring Johnson’s voice.
Earlier this month, Role Model dropped his third studio album, “Chuck Timely & the Hourglass.” Ahead of its release, he told Nylon Guys that Johnson made a spoken-word cameo on the album’s fourth track, “Love I You.” He later said that Johnson’s “voice was perfect on it” and that her contribution made the song “really special to [him].”
In the Nylon interview, published August 4, Role Model explained how the cameo came together. “I had a lot of names to pick from for that, and then Dakota came to the studio one day, and Mason [Stoops, guitarist and producer] was like, ‘Why don’t you do it?'” he said. “I was like, ‘Stop! We’re not mixing work and relationships.’ She was like, ‘I’ll do it,’ and stood right up and got in the booth and knocked it out better than we could have imagined. So I was like, OK, if she’s down—I mean, that’s an amazing cameo.”
The musician also admitted to the magazine that they were together, marking one of the few times either had addressed the relationship publicly.
The former couple was last seen together in April during a night out in Los Angeles. They were photographed getting cozy in a parking lot in the Los Feliz neighborhood after dining at pizzeria Little Dom’s with friends. At one point, Johnson was seen embracing Role Model from behind, while he was pictured nuzzling her ear.
Two days after that April sighting, Johnson’s mother, Melanie Griffith, offered her stamp of approval when approached by a photographer. “I think he’s fabulous,” she said.
In the viral moment that first sparked romance rumors, Johnson and Role Model were photographed dining together in December 2025. Photos obtained by TMZ showed them at a candlelit dinner with friends, and sources told the outlet that Johnson was “lying on [Role Model] all cuddled up at the cozy dinner.” The outlet reported that the “Madame Web” star and the “Look at That Woman” hitmaker “got very close” as they enjoyed the meal.
The two continued to fuel speculation when they stepped out together for another date night in LA in January. A video obtained by Deuxmoi showed Johnson and Role Model wearing matching black outfits as they headed into French restaurant and wine bar Marvin in Beverly Hills, California. Later that month, they appeared to confirm their relationship after being photographed holding hands and smiling at each other as they left a restaurant where they had dined with a friend.
Johnson and Role Model were first linked romantically in December 2025, less than seven months after she and her ex, Chris Martin, went their separate ways. Johnson and the Coldplay frontman had been together for eight years on and off before ending their engagement in June 2025.
Role Model is currently on tour in support of “Chuck Timely & the Hourglass,” with upcoming shows scheduled across North America.
